Actually, he is not, as the medical definition of pedophile involves "prepubescent children". Which the sixteen year old was not.
Which is not to say that Foley's behavior wasn't execrable, as it was. But it was not pedophilia, and calling it that is like calling consensual-at-the-time, morning-after-second-thoughts date "rape", rape.

Foley is apparently attracted to adolescents, which makes him an ephebophile. 'Pederast' is a more appropriate colloquial term than 'pedophile,' as it refers to relations between an older man and a youth, as was common in ancient Greece. A true pedophile is one attracted to prepubescent or peripubescent childrne.
