Scandal: Right after Mark Foley was revealed to have had inappropriate e-mail conversations with a 16-year-old page, he resigned and checked into rehab. Now, what did Democrats know, and when did they know it?

Yes, you read that right: the Democrats. It's of course clear that Foley, a Republican representative from Florida, resigned for good cause. We don't defend him or his inexcusable behavior -- good riddance.

The October surprises seem to alwasy be 2 or 4 books coming out to slam the Bush Administration starting in about late july all the way up to election day. That and their willing accomplices in the MSM.

re: I'm surrounded by gullible people here at work

Wow, do I know what you mean. I worked for a major daily newspaper and it was torture both in the news photo department where I was, but especially in the newsroom. I used to have to bite my tongue every day. You might try asking them to name a single Democrat who has simply resigned from office immediately upon being accused of wrong doing.

"not a single one of these political dirty tricks has ever paid off for the Left"

Not sure that's true - from what I recall of the episode just before the 2000 Presidential elections (when dirty 'Rats released a 20+ year old DUI a mere 4 days before a national election) Bush was expected to win comfortably by several points -- the 'Rats did their dirty trick with the ancient DUI, the vote ended up in a virtual dead heat, and we got the Florida recounts and all the b.s. propaganda every since...... so I'd say the scum-left was quite successful with that DUI matter, even if not nearly so successful as they had hoped.

Can somebody please tell me who was shopping these emails? Nobody who was supposed to have had them was supposed to have shown them to anyone.

Well, might call that one too close to call. I would have considered it a success for their tactics if Bush had lost. I really didn't think that 'old news is new news' trick had that much effect on the election. Win, lose or draw the Left was not going to silently into the night.

Sex and Washington interns
July 28, 2006 12:48 AM | Capitol Hillbillies
By BEN WAXMAN
The Providence Journal

SNIP

"About a year ago, a conservative organization called the Independent Women's Forum commissioned a study to gage the sexual activity of interns working on Capitol Hill. The report surveyed 200 interns and found that about half had engaged in some kind of physical intimacy over the summer. Most relations occurred between fellow interns, but about 11 percent reported flirting or relationships with staffers and elected officials."

"The survey is filled with hilarious factoids about the summer dating scene in Washington. For example, the study breathlessly reported that interns working for the Senate were almost twice as likely to engage in a casual physical encounter as their counterparts in the House. In addition, less than 20 percent of all interns believe that "hooking up" will lead to a lasting relationship."

The we have the Washington Post story in '04.

SNIP

"Sen. Mike DeWine (R-Ohio) fired a young staffer for "unacceptable use of Senate computers" after she posted her sex diaries on the Internet and raised a hubbub of speculation last week: Who is this wicked woman that calls herself "Washingtonienne"? Was she really bedding six different men or making it all up? And who is the married, high-level federal employee she claims paid her $400 for a lunch-hour tryst?"

"First off, her name is Jessica Cutler. She's 24, holds a bachelor's degree in international relations from Syracuse University, once aspired to be a journalist and says she is not ashamed in the least of her behavior. "Everything is true," Cutler told us in an interview. "It's so cliched. It's like, 'There's a slutty girl on the Hill?' There's millions of 'em," she said, laughing. "A lot of my friends are way worse than me."

"Cutler was suspended from a staff assistant's position that paid $25,000 a year. Without identifying Cutler by name, DeWine said in a statement that she had used Senate "resources and work time to post unsuitable and offensive material to an Internet Web log." Cutler admits she did. And a few hours after being sacked, she happily accepted our invitation to explain why she bared her intimate encounters for the world to see...One diary entry described a "married man who pays me for sex" as "chief of staff at one of the gov agencies, appointed by Bush." That man, she claimed, paid her $400 on Tuesday for sex, but she declined to provide his name to The Post, saying, "I'm not trying to ruin his life." (On her blog she identified all the men by initials.) http://washingtoniennearchive.blogspot.com/

These Interns are not so innocent, it appears. You can find more stories if you search. What's true, what's false? Who knows. But if there is money to be made with sex for hire on The Hill by interns, as so claimed; who to say what other services are available for that same "resourceful and eager" intern".

You know, it's not even worth it, these people are brainwashed . I've tried in the past but all it got me was grief. And most important, the owner of this company is a Bush/Republican hater and has made remarks in the past that have made me kind of shy away from giving my political opinions for fear of losing my job. The guy is a real nut case.
One day I'll get out of here, until then all I have is FR to vent my opinions. Thanks for the advice though ;)

I wanted to mention to everyone that you can "Recommend" this story at the bottom.

Right now it has 2000+ votes and 3+ rating.

I don't know what yahoo does with this rating, but it might mean it gets more time higher up on their news page.

FYI
