I know Amish schools don't have security; they're pacifists. I was speaking of regular public schools. Apparently the security there hasn't improved as much as one would expect.

My apologies. My nerves are a bit raw today. These crimes are so unspeakable that I find it hard to be resilient.

I think that in many schools, security intensified after Columbine and in some cases relaxed after a while.

I imagine that it will increase significantly again, if that is the case.

I know also that, depending on the way schools are financed, that budget cuts have in some cases cut some security measures (not defending it, obviously, just saying that it has happened).

I can't believe that the recent increase in school violence even apart from this tragedy won't wake people up.

But, they had a door that locked. Just think what could have been prevented, if the door had merely been locked.

I believe that the school had a bell, perhaps it could have been rung, and the killer would have been stopped.
