“NBC Nightly News” nabob Brian Williams came under fire yesterday after he reportedly beat a hasty retreat from his MC duties at the Congressional Medal of Honor Society soiree in Boston to appear on “Saturday Night Live.”
One event participant griped to the Track that the newsie “was there for the reception, then kicked off the program around 7:30 and was out of there by 8:30.”
And shortly after 11:30, Williams was “Live from New York!”
Six months ago, we’re told, the NBC anchorman had re-upped to host the annual Patriot Awards gala that honored, in addition to the 61 medal-wearing war heroes, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Peter Pace.
“You think the man in charge of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan had somewhere else to be than in Boston that night,” groused another fired-up dinner guest.
Ooh, ouch.
Williams was “horrified” by the criticism and told the Track that he had informed the organizers of the dinner earlier in the week that his plans had changed.
“They were fine with it,” said the newsie, a Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation board member. “But the primary focus of my day was to attend the three-hour board meeting and participate in the dinner, which I did. These are my guys, I work hard for them. I love these guys.”
At ease, Williams.
The anchor said he talked at length to Gen. Pace during the cocktail hour, introduced a few people on the program and then “called the roll” of the 61 vets in the room.
“It was the longest spontaneous applause I’ve ever witnessed,” he told the Track. “It gave me chills.”
After that, the Peacock People’s primo newsman - who was replaced at the podium by Society leader Tom Lyons - hopped a private plane back to the Apple to appear on “SNL” for less than two minutes.
To kick off a new season of “Weekend Update,” Brian joined Amy Poehler at the anchor desk. He was then summarily “booted” by her new “Update” partner Seth Meyers.
Call it an Honorable Discharge!
No Tina Fey = a chance of me watching

The person who booked Brian Williams at the Congressional Medal of Honor Society should be reassigned duties, because you don't invite an ideological purse-swinger to a society that honors heroes.
This would be yet another indication of priorities of THE LEFT!
Leaving a Medal of Honor function early for 2 minutes on SNL... proving his head is firmly wedged in his fudgebox.

He had to make sure he got to his tanning appt. before he hit SNL. Ever notice how he's bronzed constantly and he has a white glow around his eyes?

Brian Williams is no friend of conservatism. Every night the NBC evening news is just one big half hour of bash Bush and screw the GOP. Fair and Balanced he is not. I no longer watch any of the MSM I stick with Fox News which I think is the fairest of all.

Tina Fey was responsible for the majority of the constant Bush bashing on SNL.
If you turn it to Mad TV, they actually do skits making fun of other world "leaders" like the sick puke from North Korea.
Tina Fey deserves a forced walk across the DMZ in North Korea.
I like Tina Fey and admire her skills as a comedy writer. I'm always partial to bright women moving up in the world. If you're a Bush-bot, get a thicker skin. Shoot, I even think Janeane Garafolo is kinda cute.
As for Mad TV, Mo and Stuart are my favorites along with the Alice Borstyn's (sp) Korean woman bit.
Then why did SNL go in the toilet? Why is Tina Fey no longer there? Tina Fey was married to one of the producers of SNL, some skills huh?

If the opposite of being a Bush-bot is to have a middle of the row, status quo view of things, and to ignore constant political bigotry of our Commander-in-Chief, then I wear Bush-bot with a badge of honor.
Nah, the opposite of Bush-bot is the Bush derangement syndrome, both symptoms of letting political kool-aid poison other aspects of life.
He's a liberal, media, whore... but alas, I repeat myself.
