Nobody is prepared to look at and understand just how deceptive these predators can become. That's why when Hastert saw a warning sign like the creepy emails, he should have had an in-depth investigation, rather than Shimkus asking Foley and taking his word for it.
You can't just say, gee, sexual predators are deceptive, there's no way they could have known -- BECAUSE sexual predators are deceptive, they SHOULD NOT have taken Foley's word, and they SHOULD have taken the situation seriously and had an actual investigation.

I cannot disagree with what you say but it happens all the time. Predators work their way into situations where they have access to vulnerable kids (boy scouts, youth activities, sports events). How did this guy become responsible for a Committee dealing with missing and exploited children? This guy was doing his stuff for a good while and it seems so unjust that Hastert takes the hit. He deceived a lot of people including Hastert.
