You are correct. However, MAC (Modify, Access Change) times of the text file itself can be a clue to someone trying to destroy the integrity of the file.
C.R.E.W. probibly only supplied photocopies of the chatlogs to ABC.
How did C.R.E.W. get the Chatlogs to begin with?
