What a great story! I'm stunned that a baby that small could hold on so long - I thought that the only thing they could grab with a death-grip was your eyeglasses or car keys! ;>)
Interesting choice, mom sending son up the stairs rather than letting football-playing son take a chance on the catch. I guess she figured that he could make it up the stairs quicker.

I guess she figured that he could make it up the stairs quicker. Getting the baby before he falls is the best plan. It's a good thing the back-up plan worked.
What is remarkable is that they came along, she dispatched her son up the steps and she prepared to make the catch, all right away. Most folks would have wasted time calling 911 or looking for somebody else to help.
The baby was lucky that these two were the ones walking by.
