Some gunowners aren't members of the NRA or any other gun-rights organization, however, and aren't familiar with the 20,000 or so federal/state/local gun laws. They just need a gun for protection, they're just people who need a weapon to protect themselves. So all that "De law iz de law" babble is moot.
But with so many people (the press) looking to "make their bones" by exposing something that will cause controversy, LEO's these days are too afraid to use their own judgment. They know they can't get fired or prosecuted by just following the word of the law and then pass the buck up to the DA, who is in the same boat the LEO is, and says screw it, let the jury decide. It sucks, but what do you think the media would do if they got word that a cop "refused to enforce a law".
Yes, the NRA has about sixty case pending concerning citizens who were caught trying to decipher twenty thousand gun laws.
Since you want the NRA involved, I'm inviting you to join the four million NRA members doing what seventy four million gun owners are too lazy to do. Protect the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights.
