Oct. 1, 2006 A Republican staff member warned Congressional pages five years ago to "watch out" for Congressman Mark Foley, according to a former page.
Matthew Loraditch, a page in the 2001-2002 class, told ABC News he and other pages were warned about Foley by a supervisor.
Loraditch, the president of the Page Alumni Association, said the pages were told "don't get too wrapped up in him being too nice to you and all that kind of stuff."
Staff members at the House clerk's office did not return phone calls seeking comment. Some of the sexually explicit instant messages that led to Foley's abrupt resignation Friday were sent to pages in Loraditch's class.

So, you want to overlook this because it's done by the "other guys?"

Oh my gosh. The Rats really are the most hypocritical people on the planet. I had assumed there were affairs or something.

No. And the only thing anybody knew about (supposedly) before the ABC story Friday were the emails.
Supposedly the IMs were emailed to Brian Ross after he posted his report on the ABC web site.
I'm not sure whether I believe him or not.

Overlook what? I've been gone a week and haven't been watching or reading any news, but if Foley is gay and was IM'ing some pages (btw, I believe it all happened after the pages left Congress), then what's the problem?

The problem is the age of the page.

Hello? I haven't seen anything that indicates Foley was molesting anyone. Have you seen any information he even had an affair with one of his former pages?

How old are pages typically? Isn't the age of sexual consent 16? Or is it 18?
Sorry for all the questions...

I believe the age of consent in DC is 16. Even so, it's very, very creepy. This wasn't an 18 year old senior hitting on a 16 year old sophomore at the local MickeyD's. This was a 50 year old guy hitting on a 16 year old...

House Speaker Hastert asks Justice Dept. to investigate how lawmakers handled allegations that Rep. Mark Foley exchanged sexually explicit messages with a 16-year-old former congressional page.

Oh, I agree it's creepy. I just don't get why Barney Frank can have an affair with a staffer and didn't resign over it. Wasn't it a page he had the affair with or was it an older person?
