I'm going to disagree slightly with your view of the ad.

I believe producing the ad know the futility of having the UN do anything.

I think it's an appeal to the only person poweful enough and moral enough to do anything about it.

Could they state in better, yes.

But the ad is a direct emotional appeal.

EXACTLY.....that was my impression as well.....I was actually shocked at the end.
