I can only meet you half way on this one... Republican certainly does NOT equal conservative today. But I have not seen a decent Democrats that was not a subversive for the left since Zell Miller retired...

You'll still find conservative Democrats at the state and local level. There are a few at the national level as well, although they're few and far between. Joe Lieberman isn't too bad. Mark Warner and Evan Bayh are a couple of others.
