When I saw the explosive and Riverside County, that was all I needed to send it to you.
No, reading fine print is not something that I will be doing today.

Freshly Baked Handouts Forbidden In Fairfax
WaPo ^ | 11/29/06 | Jacqueline L. Salmon
Posted on 11/29/2006 9:59:13 AM PST by Froufrou
The casserole has been canned. Under a tough new Fairfax County policy, residents can no longer donate food prepared in their homes or a church kitchen -- be it a tuna casserole, sandwiches or even a batch of cookies -- unless the kitchen is approved by the county, health officials said yesterday.
"We're very aware that a number of homeless people eat out of dumpsters, and mom's pot roast has got to be healthier than that," said Jim Brigl, chief executive of Fairfax Area Christian Emergency & Transitional Services. "But that doesn't meet the code." County officials estimate that about 2,000 people are homeless in Fairfax. They are served by a network of shelters that swells to more than three dozen over the winter. FACETS, a Fairfax nonprofit group, coordinates most hypothermia shelters, which are set to open Friday in two dozen churches and other facilities.
Under state and county code, food served to the public must be prepared in a kitchen that has been inspected and certified by the county Health Department. Those standards are high: a commercial-grade refrigerator, a three-compartment sink to wash, rinse and sanitize dishes and a separate hand-washing sink, among other requirements. Health officials said they weren't aware that food from unapproved kitchens was being served in homeless shelters.
To help the churches prepare, the Health Department is waiving a $60 fee for certification and is holding additional safe food-handling classes for church volunteers. It is also giving churches that do not have approved kitchens a list of other houses of worship with such facilities.
The crackdown has also hit year-round shelters. They prepare their food in on-site commercial kitchens, but many also accept donations from people who bring leftover food, home-baked goodies and other products to their doors.

No, I had not seen that one, he was also arrested about a month ago.
Makes one wonder what is really going on, doesn't it.
I have heard the Denver iman on the radio, Rick interviewed him and he was as radical as any we have ever read about.
Sorry, the name did not stick with me, it has been about a year since the interview.
The KOA radio talk shows do get a few calls from muslim radicals.

Illegal immigrants working at airport arrested
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 11-29-2006 | Mary Lou Pickel
Posted on 11/29/2006 4:18:06 PM PST by Turbopilot
Federal immigration agents arrested six illegal immigrants Wednesday who had security badges that gave them access to restricted areas of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, including the tarmac.
The immigrants, all of Mexico, worked installing drywall for T.C. Drywall, Inc. of Alpharetta, according to a statement from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
None of the men was considered a security threat.
ICE continues to investigate the circumstances of the immigrants' employment and possession of the restricted access badges, ICE spokesman Marc Raimondi said. The six likely will be deported to Mexico.
The arrests are a part of ICE's "critical infrastructure worksite" focus on facilities such as airports, power plants, oil refineries and military bases. The goal is to protect against the risk of terrorism posed by unauthorized individuals working in secure areas.
"Hartsfield-Jackson International is one of the busiest airports in the country," said Kenneth Smith, special agent-in-charge of the ICE Office of Investigations in Atlanta. "These facilities must know that the people who have access to their sensitive areas are entitled to such access."
The men were arrested early Wednesday in Hartsfield's south terminal, said Smith.
They were on their way to work, he said.

Check out the Recent Earthquakes web site http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/recenteqs/latestfault.htm.
If you go to the United States link & include the two quake (4.8 & 4.5) offshore of Baja, I count six M4+ quakes in general West Coast area in the last four days.
11/26, Sunday, 2:11 pm - a M4.3 in the Mammoth Lakes area, with mostly very small aftershocks.
11/27, Monday, 8:06 pm - a ML4.1 near Paso Robles, perhaps a late aftershock of the San Simeon earthquake.
11/29, Wednesday, 7:34 am local - a M4.8 quake about 125 miles offshore of Baja, about halfway down the peninsula. There was a M4.5 aftershock at 2:15 pm local time this afternoon.
11/29, Wednesday, 1:10 pm - ML4.0 quake near Ocotillo (near the border between Imperial & San Diego Counties). There has been some decent swarm activity in that area lately, including a M3.8 at 4:17 am today. Aftershocks have included: M3.5 at 1:12 pm, M3.1 at 1:26 pm & 3.7 at 2:15 pm.
11/29, Wedneday, 1:20 pm - M4.0 3 miles west of Hollister.
We have seen clumps (not a technical term) of earthquakes at different locations in a short time period before, without any dire consequences. Look at May 1980 or July 1986 for more extreme examples than this. So its not alarming. But it is interesting, especially after the low activity weve had in the last months.

Report: Syria plotted to kill Lebanese
By JPOST.COM STAFF
Lebanese security forces discovered a Syrian plot four days ago to
target 36
anti-Syrian officials, according to the Lebanese paper al Mustaqbal and
cited by Israel Radio Wednesday. The paper is owned by the Hariri
family.
The assassinations were to be carried out by a pro-Syrian Palestinian
group
called Fatah-Abu Musa or Fatah Intifada, the article claimed.
The plot was discovered during the interrogation of two men sent to
Lebanon
by Syrian intelligence.
According to the report, Syria wanted the assassinations to look like
the
work of an al-Qaida faction.

Sherpao says Bajaur seminary had links with al-Qaeda
http://thenews.com.pk/images/shim.gif

By Asim Yasin
ISLAMABAD: The government has some positive leads with regard to the
Dargai
incident, said Federal Minister for Interior Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao.
"Some people have been interrogated and we have got some positive leads
to
reach close to the culprits of the Dargai incident," he said while
addressing a press conference at the cafeteria of the Parliament House
after
the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal pointed out lack of quorum in the Senate.
He was
supposed to deliver a "winding up" speech in the Senate, but the
religious
alliance pointed out lack of quorum.
Speaking at the press conference after prorogation of the session,
Sherpao
said, "Investigations were going in the right direction after getting
positive leads from interrogation of suspected persons."
He denied presence of any student at the time of the raid on the
Islamic
seminary. He also denied that any accord was due the next day of the
attack.
The minister reiterated that those killed in the raid on the Madrassa
were
all would-be suicide bombers and they were scheduled to leave for
terrorist
attacks in different parts of the country the next day.
"We have solid information that the miscreants were getting training in
suicide bombing and planting improvised explosive devices in the camp,"
he
said. He said an al-Qaeda member, Marwan al Soori, was also killed in
Bajaur. His diary has been recovered by authorities, which contains
diagrams
of bombs, which were used to target civilians and law-enforcement
agencies.
He said a missile, which had been recovered from Muhammad Faqir's
house, was
discovered by sniffer dogs.
The minister said two members of a group were killed two days back.
They
were distributing pamphlets threatening people to close down offices of
all
non-governmental organisations in the agency, avoid dressing up their
children in Western clothes and stop sending girls to school. "Those
failing
to comply would find no refuge anywhere," they threatened.
Sherpao said when Abu Faraj was arrested in Mardan on May 5 last year,
he
confessed his connections with Maulvi Liaquat. Subsequently, Maulvi
Liaquat's house was raided and 13 foreigners were arrested, including
an
Uzbek, who was later deported.
With regard to preventing the Awami National Party (ANP) president from
entering the Bajaur Agency, he said government officials approached
Asfandyar Wali telling him the situation was not good in Bajaur so he
should
postpone his visit till improvement in the situation. "But he said he
would
visit and if stopped they would return."
He said Asfandyar wanted to express solidarity with the Pakhtuns by
visiting
Bajaur with a 500-vehicle procession while totally ignoring a visit to
the
graves of three young men of his constituency in Bajaur.
The minister claimed that the government has proofs that on the next
day of
the attack by Pakistani forces, a massive suicide mission was in the
offing
by the seminary people, who, he alleged, had the support of Taliban and
al-Qaeda.
Regarding an agreement between the government and tribes of Bajaur, he
said
negotiations were going on but the two sides had not reached any
agreement.
Expressing his disappointment over the attitude of the MMA, he said,
the MMA
should have the courage to listen to the viewpoint of the government.
"We
heard their arguments with patience but they did not have courage to
listen
to the facts," he said.

Students Questioned After S.C. Teacher Drinks Deadly Chemicals
http://www.wsbtv.com/news/10412723/detail.html
POSTED: 9:50 am EST November 28, 2006
GOOSE CREEK, S.C. -- Officials at a Goose Creek elementary school
say police plan to question fifth grade students about a teacher who
became ill after drinking deadly chemicals earlier this month.
The teacher at Boulder Bluff Elementary was hospitalized in critical
condition November 16 after drinking methanol and ethylene glycol, a
clear, colorless liquid used in antifreeze.
She is recovering at home. Police are investigating the incident as
a possible poisoning. A police report said the woman had no history
of suicide or depression and was not on any medicine.
Berkeley County School spokeswoman Pam Bailey says about 20 students
were in the classroom when the teacher became ill.
Police planned to talk to students today after the school received
permission from their parents.

PASADENA, Texas -- Two people were hospitalized after they were
possibly exposed to a chemical, KPRC Local 2 reported.
The Pasadena Fire Department responded to Inspectorate America on
Pasadena Boulevard when a woman fainted at around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters originally thought the woman may have been exposed to
hydrogen sulfide, a highly poisonous gas.
"We took some readings with our gas detectors," Chief Lanny
Armstrong said. "We didn't get anything out of the ordinary."
Another worker was also sickened, officials said. Both workers were
transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment.
Officials said the building was evacuated as a precaution.
Crews are working to determine what made the workers ill.

Members of 'Muslim boys' gang guilty of killing
What distinguished this case from other black gang trials is that the victim was apparently killed after the Muslim Boys attempts to force him to convert to their brand of Islam had failed
Wednesday, November 29, 2006
by Adrian Morgan
In September last year, Marcus Archer, Aaron Irving-Simpson and Marlon Stubbs, all aged 24 and from the gang called the "Muslim Boys", were on trial at the Old Bailey, accused of murdering 20-year old Adrian Marriott by shooting him in the head five times on June 8, 2004.
What distinguished this case from other black gang trials is that the victim was apparently killed after the Muslim Boys attempts to force him to convert to their brand of Islam had failed. The court heard that Adrian Marriott had known Marcus Archer for years, but had started to visit the house of the gang leader, Marcus Archer, accompanied by Marlon Stubbs.
Archer had decided that Adrian Marriott, his sister Tara and her friend Jade Okai were ripe for conversion. Jade and Tara agreed to wear the hijab or Muslim headscarf, but Adrian Marriott did not take the gang's demands seriously. In January this year, Adrian's mother Ruth told an inquest into her son's death, held at Southwark Coroner's Court, that she had heard the shots which killed her son. He had been killed at Loughborough station, south London, and his body had been dumped in parkland nearby.
"The thought did strike me that Adrian could be involved, but it was a fleeting thought. Then we heard from police the following evening what had happened," she said. "Adrian was told on the Sunday prior to his death that he would be killed if he did not become a Muslim by the Wednesday, which was the day he died."
When asked if Adrian had taken the threat to convert seriously, Ruth Marriott said: "I do not think he did."
Adrian Marriott, an accountancy student, was killed shortly before his 21st birthday.
The trial last year of Marcus Archer, Aaron Irving-Simpson and Marlon Stubbs heard evidence from the prosecution. Marlon Stubbs had telephoned Tara Marriott and told her: "Your brother is a little tadpole. He just messed with a big shark, a whale." The Old Bailey trial in the Marriott murder case last year ended abruptly, on September 9. Apparently new evidence was produced by police, and Irving-SImpson and Stubbs were allowed to go free. Charges against all three defendants were dropped.
However, due to a former arrest for possessing an illegal firearm, the leader of the three, Marcus Archer, was jailed for eight years. When he was arrested by armed police outside a Croydon mosque in July 2004, a loaded handgun was found in his pocket.
The Muslim Boys have managed to develop for themselves a fearsome reputation. They use Islam as a cover to justify doing whatever they wish. They are devout, in that they pray five times a day, but their version of Islam is one that follows the "caravan-raiding" of the "prophet" Mohammed and his followers, as described in Sura 8 of the Koran.
Last year, the Evening Standard wrote an interview with a member of the gang, called "Winston" on July 5, 2005. He said: "Knives is f***-all. Later, my bruvs will be back from their robberies with our skengelengs [guns] and cream [money]. Later there be MACinside-10s [sub-machine guns] all over the floor, laid wall to wall. And moolah! We count it - 10 grand, 20 grand. Then, after midnight," he adds, matter-of-factly, "me and my bruvs go to mosque to pray."
In June 2005, Brixton and Stockwell mosques publicly distanced themselves from the gang, saying there are "criminals masquerading as Muslims" who threaten the good name of their religion. Abdul Haqq Baker, chairman of Brixton mosque, claimed: "What we are seeing is a new phenomenon that I have not seen in my 15 years as a Muslim.....Keep away from our mosques."
"Winston" was not happy at being denounced by the Brixton mosque. He told the Evening Standard reporter: "F***ing cheek!" he said. "Mocking us. There be retribution for this!"
He described his religious beliefs: "I converted when I was in prison. I found it relaxing, we got better food. Now we all go to mosque together. If I refuse, they blow [shoot] me, innit. I pray twice a day: before I do crime, and after. I ask Allah for a blessing when I'm out on the street. Afterwards, I apologise to Allah for what I done."
Prison seems to attract a lot of converts to Islam, and many converts join because from the example of early Muslims, their activities of robbery and killing do not differ too widely from the behavior of the founder of Islam and his followers. Replace "caravan-raiding" with " raiding drug-dealer's apartments" and "attacking infidels" with "anyone outside one's gang", and a simplistic and unrestrained interpretation of Islam emerges. This appeals to disaffected, violent youth, who do not need to radically change their mindset to call themselves religious.
In prison, the "Muslim Boys" have been responsible for maintaining their religious beliefs through forced conversions. They fraudulently claim to be connected to Al Qaeda as that gives them some cachet, both inside prison and on the streets.
In April this year, the Muslim Boys' activities at the Category A prison, HMP Belmarsh, made the news. A member of the group was savagely attacked for his "apostasy" after he said he wanted to leave the gang. A group of eight members of the Muslim Boys cornered him in the lavatories, and "punished" him with a severe beating, causing serious injuries to his head. The attack took place on Good Friday (April 14) and only ended when prison officers intervened.
Four prisoners from the gang received "administrative action" from the prison authorities. Two leaders were transferred to other jails. Many members were sent to a segregation unit within the prison. The Home Office said the Good Friday attack had not been a major incident. A leaked prison report claimed the members of the Muslim Boys were recruiting for Al Qaeda within the jail. Other prisoners claimed to be in fear of their lives after the gang attacked victims with razor blades attached to toothbrushes (called shanks).
Last year, Detective Chief Superintendent John Coles, who heads Operation Trident, the Scotland Yard unit that targets gun crime in the black community, about 20 "hardcore" members of the group have been imprisoned, there are about 20 still on the streets, with other members who "attach themselves" as hangers-on.
The gang numbers on the street could be as high as 50 to 100 members. These groups, drawn from other local gangs with names such Peelden, the Stockwell Crew, the SMS (South Man Syndicate) and PDC (Poverty Driven Children), come from neighborhoods in Brixton, Peckham, Lambeth, and Streatham, in south London.
Tarique Ghaffur, a senior policeman and Muslim, said last year: "My priority is to sort out these thugs and reassure people that we will take a collective approach to ensuring no community is stigmatized. I would love to give these thugs an Islamic knowledge test. I doubt many would pass."
Wanoo Sheshmi, who runs a project to assist alienated young males in south London called the From Boyhood to Manhood Foundation, said: "We know that they are targeting young people, vulnerable young people who are receptive to this message because they themselves are empty, they need something to believe in."
Gun Possession
Marlon Stubbs, who had been cleared of killing Adrian Marriott a year ago, was jailed yesterday, along with two other members of the Muslim Boys gang, 23-year old Stefon Thomas and 20-year old Sanjit Webster.
The three were found guilty at the Old Bailey of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, states IC South London.
They were arrested after a shooting incident which took place on October 10 last year, a month after Stubbs had been acquitted of Adrian Marriott's murder. Eyewitnesses had identified Stubbs and Thomas but a jury at the Old Bailey had cleared them of attempted murder.
The shooting incident had taken place at Condell Road in Battersea. Marlon Crooks was showing his family a BNW convertible outside their home. A gang, wearing Muslim-style headscarfs had fired upon Crooks, his eight-year-old daughter, his mother, grandmother, sister and brother. All individuals had escaped injury.
A week after the incident, Stefon Thomas was arrested in possession of a D-32 Derringer pistol. On November 3, the Old Bailey heard, Sanjit Webster and Marlon Stubbs were caught with a .44 caliber weapon, while traveling in a taxi from Brixton to Stratford. Webster and Stubbs had been going to Stratford to pick up the .44 pistol on the last day of Ramadan. They were overheard saying: "When Ramadan ends the snake is going to strike"
Stubbs, who lives in Kennington, has a previous conviction for rape, where two schoolgirls were his victims. He was told by the judge at the trial that he will serve at least four years in jail before being considered for parole, as will Thomas. Sanjit Webster will serve at least three and a half years. Additionally Thomas, of no fixed abode, will serve two concurrent sentences of six years' jail for possession of a prohibited weapon and four years for two counts of possession of prohibited ammunition.
Stubbs and Thomas were cleared on two charges of attempted murder and one of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Murder
Three more members of the Muslim boys were also convicted in a different courtroom yesterday of killing a man, states IC South London. A 23-year old nursing assistant, Charles Anokye, had been stabbed to death on August 1, 2005. He had received 13 knife wounds in his chest and back after being attacked by five assailants. His attackers rifled through his pockets, taking his valuables, as he lay bleeding to death.
Anokye was at the Mass nightclub at St Matthew's Church, Effra Road, Brixton with a friend, James Idamakin. Both worked at the Rosedale Nursing Home in Tooting Broadway. Idamakin gave evidence to the court that Anokye had been dancing when another person had said to him "You're blocking my view".
Anokye knocked another dancer with his drink bottle, and Idamakin had excused his friend by saying that Anokye was drunk, and had not intended that to happen. When the pair left the nightclub at 4 am, Idamakin said that he saw the "Muslim Boys" running out of the club, and had to run for his life.
"I saw Charles with some boys. They were running after him. There were about six of them. hey were kicking and punching him. He was on his feet then he fell," Idamakin said.
The jury heard evidence from two eyewitnesses, who spoke after being placed under witness protection. Additionally, closed circuit television footage was shown to the court.
Two individuals from The Muslim Boys gang were convicted of manslaughter, and one was found guilty of murder. 17-year old Anwar Hussain was convicted of murder, and 18-year old Edwin Banfo and 20-year old Aaron Roberts were convicted of manslaughter.
Two others, 18-year old Rico Tracey and 17-year old Ben Jatto, were cleared of killing but were convicted of violent disorder.
Another individual, 18-year old Everald Howell, was cleared of wrongdoing, and was set free.
The jury failed to reach a verdict on two others, who will be facing a retrial. These are 20-year old Daniel Brown and a 16-year old who cannot be named.
All the individuals before the court, who lived in south London and belonged to the Muslim Boys gang had denied murder and violent disorder. During the trial, both Rico Tracey and Anwar Hussain had been allowed time off from the court to perform their prayers. The case has gone on for three months.
Judge Richard Hone adjourned sentencing until a date will be made next month. Hussain, Bamfo and Roberts will almost certainly get custodial sentences, and Hussain is guaranteed to receive a life sentence for murder.

What will WE allow THEM to do tomorrow?
One hundred and thirty people died four years ago at 'Nord-Ost', |
Los Angeles residents Mark and Luba Burban, parents of Grigory Burban, a hostage who died at Dubrovka, reflect on recent events.
«Women, men, adults and children! Today we find ourselves in a situation, which is a question of life or death. We all have parents, relatives, and children. Our lives are on your consciences. We ask that the problem be solved peacefully, otherwise there will be much blood." - So read the appeal of the hostages at 'Nord-Ost'.
The authorities were deaf and dumb, while the people maintained silence.
The "shining success" of the special forces carried away 130 lives, ten of them children, children were not able to become pilots, musicians, actors, or doctors.
After the "successful" gas attack, the hostage rescue operation left behind more than 60 orphans, hundreds of invalids, and thousands of people who were morally devastated when their relatives and loved ones never came home from the theater.
These monstrous figures do not reflect the scale of the tragedy. This violence in response to violence at 'Nord-Ost' provoked a series of new terrorist attacks: explosions in subways and on airplanes, and bloody battles in Mozdok and Beslan. They are surpassed by the future consequences of these events: Moscow has set a precedent. The sanctioned and unpunished use of gas chambers in the fight against terror, combined with the ostrich-like policies of the government and the silent consent of the population with their 'anything goes' leaders, has legitimized its use. The 'victory at any cost' strategy that was realized at Dubrovka means that society's status is now that of a potential hostage of the political ambitions of the president, while the citizens are potential victims of gas chambers at future 'Nord-Osts'. It was for a reason that the Russian vice premier, Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov, promised that he would use "all that is effective, other than nuclear weapons" in the fight against the terrorist threat.
The gas attack in the center of Moscow in the 21st century has proven to be a manifestation of another monstrous weapon, the neutron bomb. Like after the neutron bomb, the building is still standing, but the people are dead. It is the first occasion in peacetime where a supposedly civilized, "democratic" government has used chemical "secret substances" against hundreds of peaceful citizens.
The result of a four-year investigation has been a government secret, privatized by the Kremlin. High ranks and awards were given to the secret heroes of 'Nord-Ost', and those who risked strangers' lives remain unpunished. This will only provide a stimulus to future special operations soldiers, who are trained "to kill them all and let God sort them out", and poison people in gas chambers. We are all someone's children and someone's parents, and we cannot, we must not trust the fate of our loved ones to those who value human life as nothing more than the flip of a coin in comparison to their own prosperity. The stubborn attempts of these executioners to avoid responsibility, to evade a judicial investigation, lays bare not only the shear scale of their deed, but their animal fear of a punishment befitting their crimes. This explosive mixture of hate and vengeance has surpassed critical mass, and exploded in what was once permitted "in the best Soviet traditions": a monstrous tragedy, a "hit" to silence the unyielding Anna Politkovskaya. Her voice raised the alarm about 'Nord-Ost', and she was as closely bound to the events there as a mother is with her umbilicus to her newborn. Even the terrorists respected her courage, though her irreconcilability provoked fury from the authorities. How awful must the truth be, and dangerous for those who have something to hide, if to hide from it they put their hope in that old Stalinist principle - "no man, no problem."
For what does the bell toll? What was Anya writing about?
She wrote that evil, which is hushed up, gives rise to even greater evil. She wrote that a crime that goes unpunished is doomed to be repeated.
She wrote that there were real persons behind the tragedy at Dubrovka, and that they had names, titles, and ranks, which must be made known.
She wrote about the personal responsibility of those whose duty it was to protect, not to kill.
She wrote that only an independent investigation of the Russian leadership's culpability for 'Nord-Ost', and a judicial process against the executioners, could protect people from the crimes of today's authorities, or from the possible crimes of tomorrow's, from new 'Nord-Osts' and Beslans.
For whom does the bell toll? About whom did Anya write?
She wrote about those who were killed in a 21st century gas chamber in the middle of Moscow, about the children at Beslan and Grozny killed by tanks, about the tortures and disappearances in Chechnya. She wrote about those whom we must remember, and about those of us who must ensure that the future of our children and grandchildren is filled with the happiness that is life, their gift at birth.
For whom did the bell toll on October 10th? For Anya Politkovskaya.
"What will WE allow THEM to do tomorrow?" More than once Anya asked this of her fellow citizens. The authorities answered her on October 7th, 2006, with four bullets, including a control shot to the head.
We allowed THEM to kill her. Therefore, we are accessories to the crime.
Those who suffered at 'Nord-Ost' were once again made orphans on October 7th, when they lost their dearest one. The world has become even darker, and very empty.... Do not ask, for whom the bell tolls...
Just hear it...
