Interesting. Maureen Dowd appears to be utterly humorless. Her (apparent) efforts to be funny didn't just fall embarrassingly flat, they actually made me grimace. Oh well - - Dowd is about as good as the NY Times is going to get these days.

Agreed. I really found myself thinking: 'This is the great Maureen Dowd? This is the NY Times? This is the best they can do?'

Maureen would be well-advised to leave the humor - and the analogies - to the professionals. I doubt she'll listen. What's next? Dowd in the new HBO laff-riot . . . 'Ali-She'?
