Saying he was "deeply sorry," Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) resigned from Congress today, hours after ABC News questioned him about sexually explicit internet messages with current and former congressional pages under the age of 18.
A spokesman for Foley, the chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, said the congressman submitted his resignation in a letter late this afternoon to Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.

I am thinking one of two things is going on here:
1. Compensating for a guilty conscience or...
2. A desire to review the "evidence" collected by the committee.
This story is very disturbing.
You got it.
But on the plus side, it knocks Woodward's book "tour" in the dirt...........LOL.
"GAWD....how the hell did the GOP caucus give him that committee assignment?"
The article said he was chairman of the Caucus, not a committee. It still looks bad, but there is a big difference in a committee and a caucus.
If you are so STUPID as to do this sort of thing through EMAIL and Instant Messages, are you really smart enough to be a Congressman?
"Foley, the chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children..."
The entire United States Congress is run by imbeciles.
Who's the full-up-round on the right!??
Sister of Katherine Harris. JK don't know. Pretty hot for an old gal.
"Now feel the underside of the flag, son."
The caption possibilities are endless. ***shudder***
OMG! LOL
One more queer gone from leadership. A good thing even though he wasn't a dimorat.
Fox/henhouse. LOL
"You know what's holding up this flag, son?"
:D
Yup.
My Lord!!! the media is going to have go NUTS with this over the next week.
If they let a repub run in his place, he will lose.
Watch the Fl Supreme Court (intent of the voter is imperative) not allow the gop to replace him due to dem protests.
Shades of NJ ala Toricelli.
Boy, do I feel sorry for them.
I'm afraid you're right.
This is from Foley's House website dealing with his exploited kids caucus role:
"As technology rapidly advances, Mark feels that students should have the ability to integrate the use of computer software into their daily learning regimen."

I bet he does- how else is he going to send them perverted instant messages?
Given the nature of the offense, I'd be wary of using the word "blow" in any comments. :P
He should just register as a Democrat tomorrow and win his seat back.
Hypocrisy has never been an impediment to the Democrats.
