It seems that the only thing left is to count on the Democrats to overplay their hand on this.

There are two words for any Democrats who try to politicize this: Gerry Studds (D-MA). He actually had sex with a 17 year old male page (and made sexual advances to two other underage pages the same year), didn't resign and showed absolutely no remorse about it. Of course, being a Democrat, he was reelected.

Well, in the world of child abuse, I don't think there was as much outrage in general in 1983. Also, the incident was 10 years old when it was brought out (if I am reading correctly).

Besides that, Foley has resigned, he's old news. Now they've got their sights set on everyone else who may have had info.

And the Barney Franks episode wasn't any better; though the male prostitute, who ran a prostitution ring out of Franks' home, wasn't a minor, his activities WERE criminal.
