You're right. While the Sons of Confederate Veterans serve a good purpose in preserving historical sites, artifacts, and other priceless Americana, no candidate--Republican or Democrat--is going to benefit from their endorsement in any race above the level of county sheriff. I saw part of a video tape they produced about 10 or 12 years ago which argued about how much better off blacks were when living under the plantation system, with their kindly masters and overseers, than as emancipated citizens. Many of these guys, for better or worse, are still fighting the civil war. Neither Allen or Webb needs them.
Neither Allen or Webb needs them.
You could be right, but my worry is that if no SCV votes for him, that could be a percent of the votes he needs. They just the plablicity of this story could switch some independents who respect the group. I don't like this at all. I thought after TO was hospitalized and Allen fell out of the spotlight, this was going to be over and Allen would revive his campaign. Now I am wanting to move to Virginia today so I can vote. Although, I have to worry about Senator Santorum in Pennsylvania too...this is not quite a nightmare, but not a good position to be in right now.
the FACT is that you, like MANY others, were made a FOOL OF.
you may now respond to everyone by saying, "I'm sorry i was made to look like a DUNCE by some group NOT affiliated with the SCV".

No offense, but I'm finding it difficult to believe you. Please provide more information on this video tape.
Which is what was taught in schools even in Union strong hold East Tennessee up till a generation or two ago. It was pretty much true but not because those guys were living in the past but rather they are preserving history and telling it. {I have not seen that film}
Could it have been because for a long time after the Civil War in the south there was no work for much of anyone? Could it have been that because there was no work they went hungry? So did many whites for that matter. Of course northern merchants had goods and open stores for inflated prices and bought them cheap plantations. What was the name for them again? Oh yea Carpetbaggers Could it be before history was rewritten to be PC that many blacks actually returned to their owners the majority who were never bad to them to start with for help?
Could it have been that even though the United States government wanted blacks free they were racist themselves? Proof? Go to any older National Cemetery and look for the section {segregated} with U.S.C.T. on the stone which means United States Colored Troops who were not good enough to fight with their so called liberators.
Don't mention that the Civil War which had little to do with slavery and much to do about tossing aside state rights the ones set forth by the founding fathers. The wars was fought by the north to form a more powerful federal government of which we are all now enslaved to rather than more accountable state governments.
Don't bother mentioning that Lincoln, slave owners, some slaves, and many in Washington , DC knew withing a couple of decades slavery would end due to it no longer being profitable and automation much the way in the 1960's Coal Towns died and miners were no longer enslaved to coal companies that owned the entire town including the grocery store and the miners home. They paid a wage that kept the miners in debt to the company. But hey that was just good business.
The Civil War for me would have been a difficult choice. I believe every person should enjoy freedom but also recognize that Biblically slavery is not immoral before GOD. There are very strict but simple rules given both slave and master. No I wouldn't have owned a slave. It was a larger responsibility especially a moral one than most GOD Fearing persons would think about taking on. But I would have likely been a Rebel on the principle of the United States Government was formed mainly to provide for the common defense and establish and provide rules of fair trade between states. It wasn't formed to give a select bunch of career politicians the powers they hold over us today.
In the long run the Confederacy would likely have provided all persons black and white more free nation and accountable government than what we have today. Congress would have been held to the limits as set forth in the Constitution which was what the Civil War was all about.
Finally there is truth in this. Slavery in the south resulted in the Africans being brought here and sold as slaves advancing themselves centuries in technology. You see many became great inventors as well. Had they not been brought here as slaves they would likely have never came here period.
Slavery throughout history has created adversities to the enslaved and creates a drive to overcome that adversity. As such the enslaved grow. The slave owners and eventually the slaves themselves benefit from their work. Such nations as Egypt used slaves namely the Hebrew nation. The slaves worked and worked their spirits being tempered until they were humbled before GOD and GOD set them free. The slavery the Jewish nation has endured in different parts of history for the past 3500 years was also part of what gave us this great nation. It was their knowledge and skills in overcoming their adversity which despite the nation being broke secured funding for General George Washington. What has the United States given them in return?
Many gripe and moan about foreign aid to Israel and forget Sons of David paid a substantial portion of the Revolutionary War and were never repaid. Yet we see their names on Wall Street.
Finally there is the spiritual reality of slavery in the south. Like it or not it spread Christianity not only to the slaves but the nations in which they came from. If you go to church there is a good chance you sing songs that were written by slaves. One was written by the Captain of a Slave Trade ship. Amazing Grace. Realize slavery for what it is. It is a tool which has been used by GOD throughout mans history to form mans character and teach him a GOD dependence spirit. GOD has used it to develop nations to bring them to him and GOD has used it to punish nations who turned away from him as well. So where is the U.S. headed? Who is waiting in the shadows to be out master? The very ones the so called leaders in Washington, DC are bending over backwards to please. Politicans selling us out hoping that they will end up as part of the ruling class for our new masters. We call the nation China.
Allen has fallen for Political Correctness and let it win against him. He needs to get over it if he expects to ever be POTUS someday. There is nothing wrong with supporting the Confederate's argument. They made many good points. It's a shame that what was once history in this nation has been rewritten by Marxist who wish to use making one sect of the population feeling themselves as victims of others as so they will work against the others. Strange thing in the south pre-Civil War you'd be just as apt to see whites as blacks picking cotton together and the same thing after.
