You don't see a conflict here? First, do you consider prostitution a legitimate way to make a living? If he'd have given her 20 bucks instead of her suggested retail of 30 is it still rape? If a prostitute gets stiffed of her pay has she been raped? Get real.
Define "legitimate." Do I think that because a girl has become a prostitute she therefore forfeits all of her other rights? Of course not. You have no more right to rape a prostitute than you have to rape anybody else.
If he'd have given her 20 bucks instead of her suggested retail of 30 is it still rape?
It all depends on whether the specific sex act was consensual. Raping a prostitute and throwing $10,000 at her is still rape if she didn't consent.
If a prostitute gets stiffed of her pay has she been raped?
No. She's been cheated and robbed, not raped, as long as the sex was consensual. This is a pretty clear distinction. However, if the sex wasn't consensual, then it's rape.
A prostitute, like any other woman, can make a choice to have sex of not, depending on what ever values she happens to have. Are you saying that coercing a woman into sex is OK if she's a prostitute? How about if she works as a dancer, and no, I don't mean a stripper. Let's say you decide you want to dance with her at a bar... So you coerce her to dance with her, threatening her if she doesn't. Is that OK too?
We're not talking about a situation where she agreed to have sex, then he refused to pay. This is a situation where he said, "give me sex or you go to jail.
You really don't see something wrong with that?

If she asks for 30 dollars, the guy offers her 20, she grudgingly says "okay", pockets his money, and then performs sex acts for him, that's consensual and thus not rape.
If she asks for 30 dollars, the guy offers her 20, she refuses his money and he leaves, there is no sexual conduct and thus no rape.
If she asks for 30 dollars, the guy offers her 20, she refuses his money, and he forces her to have sex with her even after her refusal, that's rape whether he leaves her $20, $30, or even $10,000 afterward.
