Mr Tutu's identification with ubuntu has given rise to the idea of "ubuntu theology" - where ethical responsibility comes with a shared identity. If someone is hungry, the ubuntu response is that we're all collectively responsible.

Great! Just calling "collectivism" by its own name doesn't sell well anymore. "Economic Democracy" and now "Ubuntu" to the rescue!

"People who need people . . . Are the luckiest people in the world"

I'm not quite sure what your point is, but if it's what I think it is, it is that this idea of people needing other people to be fulfilled is hardly a new concept and is hardly unknown to Western civilization. It is a central concept in the Bible, not to mention popular culture. For Clinton to dredge up an African term for this concept is simply pandering. I can't believe that more people don't see through this guy.

I know it's a Streisand song from the 60s, but I wasn't sure why HC posted it - my take on it is in my previous post.

which translates as "I am because you are," Old African term, or simply new age psychobabble?

. . .An African resonance of sorts to the old question. . .'if a tree falls in the forest; and there is no one there to hear it. . .does it make a sound?'

Beyond that; for Clinton to engage African wisdom/homilies is total BS; and there are plenty around who hear it as well as recognize it when they see it.

The man is an insufferable fraud(!). Plain and simple. . .

Wow - a master politician and a Linux Geek all in one.

If you mentioned flex and bison to Clinton, he'd think you were talking about playing Crisco Twister with Madeline Albright.

"umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu"

Well, you can't argue with logic like that!

(Does a "tu" make a grunt or a click?")

"Ubuntu." Unusual word coming from the lips of Slippery Willie. A word containing "u,u,u" and nary an "I" , which Slick is so extremely partial to.

Will ubuntu, surpass the repetition of gravitas in liberal Democrat's limited vocabulary during this election season? Probably.

The word comes from the Bantu languages

Just for the heck of it, I ran ubuntu thru google language tools to be translated from Arabic to English. It came back as "clearly expressed".

"individuals need other people to be fulfilled."

Sounds like a true narcissist, who craves for the adoration of others.

For Democrats retirement is just another primary. Retired Democrat politicians hang out in New York or Martha's Vinyard try to hustle wealthy liberal patrons with some fashionable line or another. It keeps them in the spotlight and gets them plenty of invitations, but it has little to do with how they actually governed when they were in office.

So we're back to the village, are we?
