WAR can be funny. Amid the blood, the broken lives and fractured affairs of state there must, somewhere, sometimes, be reason to smile; the "if you didn't laugh you'd cry" axiom.
Think about the war on terror. We have George W. Bush a complete joke every time he opens his mouth without a teleprompter. We have nasty little men running around with tea-towels on their heads trying to blow up civilisation as we know it. We have fridge magnets exhorting us to be alert but not alarmed and this sage counsel is nothing to do with the cold realisation that you are down to the last six-pack of beer.
We have always looked for reasons to laugh at aspects of war if for no other reason than it provides some levity in what is an otherwise evil and horrendous affair.
About 2500 years ago the Greek playwright Aristophanes penned his anti-war comedy Lysistrata a ribald tale about the women of two warring sides who unite with a plan to deliver their husbands an ultimatum: lay down your swords if you want to get laid, as someone else so aptly summed it up.

The author makes the comment: "War by its very nature is absurd and illogical."
But he fails to mention that, unfortunately, it is sometimes ABSOLUTELY necessary.
Obviously another delusional person who believes we live in a Utopian world.

Is playing Squad Leader (a personal favourite from my high school days)...
I think his high school days ended very recently. It's hard to believe you could get this childish pap printed even in a high school paper. Go back to your dungeons and dragons sonny, the adults aren't interested in your prattle.
To: geezerwheezer
actually, i just heard about this on WHO 1040 AM (Des Moines) and did a google news search thinking it was some sort of sick joke... it's sick, but not a joke...

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things.
The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. - - John Stuart Mill

Hmmm... after finding the site, the authors actually skewer the left as much as anyone else -- e.g the card:
KYOTO PROTOCOL: Play this card against another Empire to financially cripple them. Force them to pay a fine to the World Bank for each town and city they have on the board.

If you think that they're being fair to both sides, you haven't read their
