Phil Angelides Calls for Surrender
Human Events ^ | Sept. 27, 2006 | Assemblyman Chuck DeVore

Posted on 09/27/2006 5:46:21 PM PDT by FairOpinion

Phil Angelides’ campaign for governor is in deep trouble. In spite of having the support of organized labor, his rallies attract small, unenthusiastic crowds. Is it any wonder then that he is now desperately seeking to energize the anti-war left with an irresponsible and dangerous promise to bring the California National Guard home from Iraq?

Last Saturday Angelides claimed that he would, “…do everything in my power as governor of the state of California to bring our National Guard troops home.” He hinted that he might even sue the federal government.

The proposal to “bring the Guard home” isn’t new. It orginated with the far left anti-war movement that operates under the umbrella group United for Peace and Justice, a conglomeration of more than 100 leftist groups such as the Young Communist League, Communist Party USA, Code Pink, The Workers World Party, Anarchist Resistance, and International ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism).

Why should we care that Phil Angelides has aligned his sinking campaign with radical left-wing surrender groups like Code Pink and the Workers World Party? Because such actions are reported widely and carefully noticed abroad by our enemies who are searching for any sign of weakening resolve in America and the West at large.

I should have included the last paragraph of the article:

"Unfortunately for responsible and patriotic Democrats, Phil Angelides has turned his campaign for governor into a surrender burlesque giving most Californians another great reason to re-elect Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. "

Even San Fran, which ordinarily goes Democrat 80-90% in elections gives Phil "Charisma Impaired" Angelides an edge of only 8%. Even his own party hates him. Those who have heard of him, that is.

Phil Angelides, should he perform a miracle and actually win the election, would have as much authority to bring federalized National Guard troops home to California as I do, which is ZERO!

Angelides and Jerry Brown would make the perfect Liberal Couple. Two birds of a feather so to speak.

The $1 million question is, will Schwarzenegger's victory help elect Republican candidates for the down-ballot statewide offices (like Tom McClintock, for example)?

If he depresses the Angelides voters, and keeps them home, it will help any candidate who isn't a barking moonbat. Whether it's enough depends on how close the race is to begin with. More than a ten percent real gap is probably hard to overcome, it the poll is accurate.

Two different polls have Schwarzenegger pulling ahead by double digits. It looks promising.

California has a fine State Military Reserve. It can loan the CANG to the Federal Government for a little while.

I've seen Angelides ads on the Los Angeles TV stations. Total turnoff. Boring. Same old pap.

Why not? Brown has made his living on the taxpayer dole. He's been in government for decades. Don't you think it's time for him to be put out to pasture?

I thought he was put out to pasture, but keeps finding his way back into the limelight.

If having Arnie for 4 more years could be considered promising. He's been a girlie-man on everything from illegal immigration to the homosexual agenda. I do grant that he'd be better than Angelides.
