It's somewhat humorous . . . almost every time I read that some Republican is not conservative enough (here), their ACU Lifetime Rating is in the 80's or higher. So in other words, and in a good number of cases, "not conservative enough" or its derivative "RINO," really means "this guy failed to agree with me about my pet issue."

Precisely. There are a lot of single-issue Republicans out there, it seems. If it's not about their issue, they're bored silly.

That's what's led us to the awful state we're in right now. The entire Congress comes to a halt over a poor woman's dying. Those who voted for that knew it wouldn't stand, but they thought they'd curry favor with the 10% who were so wrapped up in it they thought of nothing else.

That's the trouble with things right now. We can't do anything substantial because we're so worried about what people are doing in the bedroom, rather than not spending the next generation's money.

It's sickening.

Since when is murdering helpless disabled people in their beds, by the most heinous means possible, a "Constitutional" thing to do?

Every heard of the God-given right to life, liberty and property?

Ever read Article One, Section Two of the Florida constitution?

Ever have someone explain to you how the Federal Government has no business getting involved in a State matter? That's the problem around here, a lot of people think that it's OK for the Feds to ignore Constitutional limits.

Where is that in the Constitution?

It's right next to the part where the Constitution says murder is illegal.

Blackwell's loss, presuming it happens, has nothing to do with his being with Christian Conservatives and everything to do with the horrid state of the RINO left leadership under Taft & Co. ruining the good name of the GOP and smearing ALL of our candidates in the state of Ohio. The undertow will likely take down DeWine as well.

Way too many gratuitous and cheap shots at Christian Conservatives and the movement in this thread. It's like reading the hate on DU.

Abortion is a civil rights matter therefore not a state's matter.

What do you mean? I very much consider myself a part of the Christian Right and I refuse to consider it an insult. How about part of the Christian Left which believes in nothing. Just where do you think the "Christian Right" is to find a political home? What would happen to the Republican party without the Christian Right? I for one, am not willing to look to a third party. That is political suicide. We fight our battles in the primaries and then unite behind the Republican candidate.

What does your position mean? Are you pro-abortion so you think anyone who is pro-life is part of the "Christian Right" demonized by the Democrat party?

even if that deprives people the right to make certain choices for themselves and their kids. (And I am not talking about abortion).

Then what are you talking about?

Take it for what it's worth. I will not violate a friendship to stop your rant. Armey is no boy scout... and he is a bob barr turncoat!

I understand where you are coming from in your posts in this thread, even if I don't largely agree. I happen to like James Dobson overall, and I think he is a gentle man who sets a good example for others to aspire to achieve.

However, it strikes me that the irony is that in watching the GOP Congress the past several years it is NOT the Christian Right members who have most betrayed the core party principles of limited government, lower taxes, personal responsibility - but the antithesis of the Christian Right... the liberal/moderates. These folks seem to have more in common with Democrats on key issues of the size and scope of government than they do the issues some more libertarian-oriented Republicans have raised in this thread.

To me, James Dobson is much more of the solution than the likes of Lincoln Chaffee, James Jeffords, Susan Collins, etc...

Dick Army has always been a libertarian. I'm going to add loony atheist to that too. Terry Schiavo is dead (due to her criminal husband) but that isn't good enough for this jackass.

This thread is truly enlightening in so much as it demonstrates the absence of true conservatism in this forum.

You're no conservative.

1rudeboy replies: ACU Lifetime Score = 97.

Ouch. That's gonna leave a mark.

It's a real head-scratcher. We all should dream of the day when another 97 ACU-type appears in Congress. Maybe Armey fell and hit his head. Who knows? Who cares?

But to label him as "no conservative" is utter nonsense.

I am surprised to see that because Armey went after Dobson most of the people act like he attacked all Christians. I can't stand Dobson for his way of making money off that interview he did with Ted Bundy claiming it was porno that cause him to commit all of those murders. If Dobson did his research he would have realized in the first minute that he was being used by Bundy. In my opinion, Dobson spit on all of the graves of Bundy's victims just to promote his campaign against pornography.

That's his lifetime score after, what, eighteen years in Congress? Almost half of that as House Leader. [shaking head in wonder]

Agreed.

And even if that weren't true, how can you mess with a guy whose name is "Dick Armey?"
