Republicans pick the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul for the 2008 presidential convention, GOP sources say...
Why can't it be in my hometown of Bayside, Queens?

Interesting.
Swing state. Republican governor. Bur otherwise not a GOP haven. I wonder who, if anyone, this helps in 2008? Rudy would certainly want NYC. McInsane would obviously want Phoenix. Nobody I know is really helped here.
Hope it's not in that godawful HeftybagDome.

Do you want the republican nominee to be chosen before the convention
or during the convention? I hope that no candidate wins enough delegates
before the convention. That would cause more suspense, and the convention
would be more exciting, causing more people to watch the convention and hear the great republican ideas
I think I'd like the candidate to be chosen during the convention.
...although after the re-counts of 2000,
I'm not sure how much more suspense my heart could take (:

Coleman? Might as well be Snowe-Coleman. That guy is way too moderate.

I tried living there in 1982. Things must be very different now.

Can't they hold the convention in a red state rather than a "red" state?

What do you mean "seem like"?

The 1996 convention in San Diego was so much fun. We'd sit in the big hotels and just play spot the Republican!!! It was great!

I keep meaning to enroll in some target practice or something just to actually see some MN conservatives. Perhaps after the convention. Check out the MN state board on Freerepublic.
We get together once in awhile. It's fun!

No, it's not in the Hubert Horatio Hornblower Dome in Minneapolis.
The convention will be held in the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul. It's a pretty cool place, home of the Minnesota Wild hockey team.

Parts of the city proper are very liberal, but overall the city is more conservative than most, and the suburbs are VERY conservative.

That includes Her Thighness, a Presidential "virgin" who will seem more like a used-up old hooker by '08.I like your analogy. Indeed ol' Hill is not aging well (angry, disgruntled people rarely do), and I don't know if there is enough make-up on this planet that will make her look even half-decent in a couple years.

Our local DUmmies are already promising to show up as enemy combatants.
(sigh) they are just like wayward children. Why can't they just act like adults! When I read this sort of crap coming from them, I feel just like I did when my three boys were growing up and I had just heard about their latest escapade.

Speaking of "Dems wailing and gnashing of teeth," they already have a reason to do that in '08 as well:
The GOP's choice of Saint Paul would indicate that the Republicans are pandering to the Christian Right again! (LOL!)

Having the convention in Saint Paul, Garrison Keillor's home town, will drive this PBS perennial into apoplexy. It may just drive him back to Lake Wobegon forever.
