Ms. McGee, a 28-year veteran teacher, contends she was retaliated against after a parent complained that a student saw a nude statue during a field trip to the museum in April. District officials have repeatedly pointed to other performance issues and said the trip didn't spark the reprimands.

How does one take a trip to a museum and NOT see nudes? Seems like they want her out for some (nefarious) reason. There are probably more nudes in the mandatory sex-ed books. And a parent complained that their kid, for whom they signed a permission slip, saw a nude at a musuem! Wow, that takes some nerve.

What the hell is the problem now-a-days with some of these hipocritical [sic] christain fanatics.

See 10 below. You jumped too soon. Apparently, the family is Muslim.

I assume there is a town in Texas named "Frisco". This story is definitely not about San Francisco, else the first thought that comes to mind is that the statue was not "gay" enough.

In Texas, the problem may be the reverse. Makes for fascinating news stories when the MSM focuses only on the extremes...
As for the sarcastic comments about Texans and fine art museums, I can only report that I grew up in the real San Francisco a bit before it becake Sodom-by-the-Bay, and I was intimately familiar with all the world's Science and Art museums as a pre-teen.

It was a family thing.

If what you say is true, the MSM is truly negligent in their reporting.

Please tell us that this is not a news "flash" for you...

I posted the excerpt just to indicate the two sides of the situation. Beyond that, all I say is *shrug*.

Oh, I think I got that. But it seems silly that a parent would be surprised to find their child has seen a nude statue in a museum. It seems like there must be more to the story, that they have a beef with this teacher and were looking for anything. I don't know beyond that.

Yes, I agree. I was a little fuddled when I read your first post, but now I do see your point that perhaps the parents, or someone else, had an issue already and chose this as an occasion to press it.

This board should be tarred and feathered!

The parent signed the damned permission slip for their child to go to an ART museum!

Unfreaking believable... Oh No. Little Johnny or Little Susie saw a stone tallywacker or bossom... string up the teacher...

IDIOTS! This school board should be ashamed of itself!

If you are such a damned prude that the human body, being presented clearly in an artistic setting offends your sensibilities, you shouldn't have signed the permission slip to let your kid go to an art museum!

This board needs booted! And the parent that caused this ruckus needs to be publicly humiliated and shamed for being an abject moron!

Yes, yes, that's what I meant. It just seems like a non issue to push for her release from contract.

And I'm sure that some of the kids had already figured out a way to sneak a peak at the nudes, even if they were being carefully moved away from them. It's what kids do.

There are a lot of people on this thread saying things that are not supported by what few facts are contained in the posted article.

What kind of teacher is on a "contract" anyway. I assumed teachers worked for the school district and got tenure at some point. </ignorance>

Sounds like Frisco is a bunch of tight-asses, with a disproportionately high percentage of former cheerleaders...

You know when I read the first story on this and heard all these facts:

The school approved the trip,

The parents signed permission slips,

The field trip was to where the school approved and the permission slips stated...

I knew there had to be more to the story.

From the article...District officials have repeatedly pointed to other performance issues and said the trip didn't spark the reprimands.

Ms. McGee became the subject of frequent media reports over the last month after the board rejected her August request to transfer to another Frisco school.

District officials said they didn't want to give Ms. McGee an escape hatch to move elsewhere without addressing other issues, including lesson-plan preparation.

Knowing that the school board would have spoken to their lawyers before firing a teacher, there is no way I beleive this teacher is being asked to leave because of a field trip, particularly one that was approved by the school and parents.

I tend to believe the teacher is most likely a piss poor teacher and is using an incident, either real or fabricated, to makle the school board look bad in hopes of keeping her job.

If she is really being released because she took the students on a school and parent approved feild trip, a first year law student could get her her job back.

I'm very calm. I'm at work not home so I don't drink on the job. So what I spelt Hypocritical wrong. If you read this forum very close you would pickup on the number of misspelt words. No conclusions here, only facts. When I went to elementary school people still believed in the American way. Now the teachers spend to much time blasting the country, telling you what is right or wrong and not teaching what should be taught. Simoly put, where are the parents that signed the permission slips to go to the museum, I'm sure that some of the parents have already been there and saw the same statue but then that is just a guess.

I forgot that Musscums do not go to topless bars the night before they fly planes into buildings.
