hate the Hartford Courant, but I do get it delivered on weekends. To be honest, all I want are the store ads and coupons delivered to my house on Sundays... I might read some of the local news articles (and obituaries), but all the news I need can be found on FR and on the internet in general...

The Courant is indeed a total rag, I also get the Sunday paper fro the same reasons as yourself.
If the ownership changes to local hands I suspect it will still be the same pile of birdcage liner it is today.
