BTW, could you provide a link to the Texas law you are citing? I'm not doubting you but I'd like to see it for myself.
Then why has Steve McNair not been lionized? Vick is not starting for Atlanta because of the media or the NFL. He was not drafted because of the media or the NFL. NONE of the Black qbs have been. And yes Vick would have been given as much of a chance had he been white and drafted with the first pick. He was not bad and showed flashes of brilliance enough to keep his job. It is not as if there are a lot of excess qbs capable of taking his job in any case.
What has ALWAYS tantalized GM and coaches is the idea of a qb who can be a devastating runner and passer. These guys are fabulous athletes and that is why they are drafted high in the first round and given several years to develop.
Some of us who have been NFL fans for decades have seen this phenomenon for years. My Bears tried it first in the early 70s with the very white Bobby Douglas who would have been an incredible running back/tight end but failed as a qb. It took several years for them to give up. Then, in the early 80s they tried the very Black Vince Evans FOR THE SAME REASON. It looked as if he was starting to succeed when he almost died from a staph infection, was never the same and eventually was cut winding up in Oakland for another decade as a backup.
When there are players like McNabb, Vick, Douglas, Culpepper and Evans they are irresistible to the drafters.
Eventually the players realize they have to stop running much or they get cut. The latest athlete of this type is Matt Jones but Jacksonville realized that his potential is as a receiver not qb. It would not have surprised me at all to see some other team draft him to play qb and that would have not worked out.
To my great unhappiness I saw McNabb play one of the greatest games I ever saw a qb play against the Bears in the 2001 playoffs. He beat them almost single handedly. Anyone who does not recognize his talents needs to get a new prescription.
I wonder why that never works for me. lol
Whatever did happen, I hope he is ready for the Eagles.

So, a white guy thats HUGE and FAST and can jump high can't succeed at QB but a black guy that is Fast can? hmmmm
Matt Jones NEVER showed a propensity to stick in the pocket and throw.
He was always rolling out and doing 3 step drops and that was it.
Michael Vick is the best running back playing quarterback today. That said, he has a MUCH better deep ball than Matt Jones ever thought about having.
You could be right, Ive been known to be wrong plenty of times. It just looks like a white wash to me.
It will be interesting to see how he plays and if there are any more episodes as the season wears on.
If it was a suicide attempt and its swept under the rug it will probably resurface.
I was listening to Mark Davis radio show and a Texas Policeman called in and told Mark that in Texas the police make the decision to hold people against their will for this sort of thing because in the past the hospitals were doing it for extra money(insurance etc.) so they changed the law and now leave it up to the cops and certain criteria must be met before they hold them, immediate danger to themselves(like if he is saying afterwards that he is going to kill himself etc.) the policeman that called in said that he hated holding people and usually never did, because most of the time the criteria was never met anyhow, plus he felt bad doing it)
I don't think you will see the Vicks drafted so highly in the future. It is becoming more and more clear that one does not REALLY want a running qb. After missing considerable time from injury in the last couple of years Vick reduced his willingness to run last year and had a good year.
Jones was a freak and I really wanted to draft him as a receiver. I watched him quite a bit in college (Razorback fan) and did not think he would make it as a passer in the NFL.
Another factor is that the super tall qbs, 6-3 and over, also do not succeed as much as hoped either though the scouts start to drool at the prospect. And Jones is like 6'6" or something close.
Vick 3 games, 369 passing yards TOTAL, 123 passing yards per game... doesn't look like a good deep ball to me.
Exactly the same thing has been going on when discussing head coaching changes. In fact, every NFL team is required to interview black candidates every time they make a head coachng change so everything is fair and meets their internally required affirmative action b.s. The lack of black head coaches in the NFL has been and is a big issue. Or do you deny this too? Now who created this issue, the NFL, or the media? As a side note, are NFL teams mandated that they must consider any other race when they make a head coaching decision? We both know the answer is no.
Are you one of these people who believe that the MSM are non-biased nuetral observers? Or do you believe they are agenda driven propaganda organizations as I do? Or something in-between, if that's even possible?
McNabb said what he said, those are the facts. So by merely posting McNabb's quotes, that means I am trashing a GOOD man? You sound like a democrat politician complaining about their record and their own statements being used against them during a campaign. Sounds like a very weak argument.
McNabb's comments were contingent on nothing. Owens never said ther Eagles would be better with a white QB, but McNabb implied that he did and decided to interject race into the issue fro the get go.
More falsehood and distortion. McNabb did not say any such thing nor did he say anything to get Rush fired.
Your comment was in regard to my statement that McNabb believes only certain blacks can talk about race. How the heck can his response to Rush's statement be interpreted any different than my interpretation? He interjected RACE into his response to the media about Owens, yet he turns around and cries "I thought we had grown past all this racial stuff" when a white commentator interjects race into his commentary about McNabb.
McNabb has one thing in common with most Republican politicians, he lacks a spine too. I think McNabb was pissed at Owens from the moment that he heard Owens quote about "giving up on the field during the Superbowl." No one likes being called a quiter. And it's not like McNabb could respond in kind against Owens after the superbowl, given that McNabb had nothing but sorry excuses for his performance and Owens was playing with a not fully healed broken leg at the time.
McNabb is nothing more than a selfish momma's boy who would never let anyone else upstage him as the star of the Philadelphia Eagles. Believe me, if Westbrook was a loud mouth, he'd be gone too. Lets hope Stallworth doesn't go big-headed on him either, because Stallworth is a very good receiver. Although he's a known hamstring risk.
I wanted Matt Jones for the Bears also as a reciever/Tight End!!! we got Benson and a training camp holdout instead.. :(

He hasn't thrown very many due mostly to the fact that they haven't needed too.
Jones was NEVER considered as an NFL QB by NFL scouts. That was known while he was in college.
Doug Flutie is 5'8 and Dan McGwire was 6'8"

Jones wasn't ever considered a serious QB prospect.
