I take it you missed the first hour, leading into the show as the show opened up. He was laughing, tee-hee'ing and pounding his desk. Sort of like some of the FReepers do on occasion when someone is in a miserable spot, like Rush himself.

was he laughing at T.O.(and his problems) or laughing bacause the main story is again ABOUT T.O.?

Yeah but that was public service. And in DC. It's almost got moral-exempt status. What Irvin has done is nothing less than breath taking. He's a sports guy caught with a crackpipe and basically given a couple of chuckles interviews.

It's the action of men like this who give hope to women like TSU President Priscilla Slade. She's a ninja, that one. Why for a while there all she had to do was wave her hand like some Jedi when presented with the irrefutable evidence she was bilking the public coffers for a bundle!

It was as if she didn't even have to point out her special status. She just had that glow about her. Wow!

You mean this guy:

"And to say if we had Brett Favre, that could mean that if you had another quarterback of a different descent or ethnic background, we could be winning. That's something I thought about and said, 'Wow.' It was definitely a slap in the face to me. Because as deep as people won't go into it, it was black-on-black crime."

- Donovan McNabb, on comments made by Terrell Owens(2/2/06)

Or these from McNabb:

In that situation, it was kinda like, 'That's unreal.' That's just like me saying, 'If we had Steve Largent, if we had Joe Jurevicius, we'd be undefeated. He'll now have to answer the question for the whole week about me saying it.

It was definitely a slap in the face to me. Because as deep as people won't go into it, it was black-on-black crime. I mean, you have a guy that has been criticized just about all his career and now the last criticism is that I'm selling out because I don't run anymore, by an African-American.

And to say if we had Brett Favre that could mean that if you had another quarterback of a different decent or ethnic background, we could be winning. That's something I thought about and said, 'Wow.' It's different to say if we had Michael Vick, Daunte Culpepper, Steve McNair, Aaron Brooks, Byron Leftwich. But to go straight to Brett Favre, that slapped me in the face...”

Now mind you, all of these quotes were made BEFORE Rush Limbaugh said:

That McNabb is "not as good as the media perceived him to be." He continued by saying that "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

Rush was forced to resign.

McNabb responded with this gem: "It's sad that you've got to go to skin color. I thought we were through with that whole deal."

So McNabb believes only certain blacks can talk about race, and he can play the victim card all he wants, but as soon as Rush says something about race, he suddenly forgets all his past racial statements.

Terrell Owens is skin cancer, McNabb is leukemia.

That was really terrible....We ended up turning the channel after we realized it was going to be a "poor Katrina victims, evil Bush" event. I think most of the country has wised up and seen the real deal down there. For example, my company has a contract at the New Orleans airport...they are offering HUGE bonuses for pretty basic work and cannot find any employees. It's not that there aren't any, its that every one they find either fails their background check or doesn't show up to work.

Exactly. No one expected it from the network that dumped Rush and issued a press release soon after stating as their excuse "we don't mix politics and football here at ESPN". Both instances I'm like gag me with a spoon.

I didn't hear him do anything of the sort

Think you are right, re Rush NOT gloating. Gloat is not the word. Still, each person has a different slant. My post #278, did confirm that Rush teed off on some of the press.

I heard their pressing, crisp, interrogative questions to T.O. Did they not realise the man is a human being first and foremost? A troubled one at that.

PL's Kudos. (1) 911 answering service (2)Paramedics (3)Police (4) Hospital staff. Not necessarily in that order. (laughs).

I dont think so, I think the press conference was a white wash, she said to the medical people that he was depressed then in the press conference she said that she never said that... who do you believe the medical staff or her?

Did anyone check the drawer to see if the extra medicine was in there?

Jack Bauer would have checked the drawer.

The police report says when asked if he was trying to harm himself he said yes. Case closed imo, all else is spin. I agree

Then you too are ignorant of how a person can act when he is under the influence of medication. I went to the emergency room once for food poisoning and was giving an anti-nausea drug that I had a bad reaction to.

I became very agitated, yelled at the doctor, my parents and my friends that were there. I was completely out of it.

Fortunately for me, my friends and family weren't ignorant about how medications can affect a person's reasoning, responsiveness and behavior.

That was the most idiotic thing Rush has ever said and, while not worth firing him, was not even close to being true. McNabb was praised in the media for being an outstanding player and person. It was rooting for him no more than it was for any of the other Black qbs. Rush would have been praising McNabb to the skies had he been a Steeler. Any excessive media praise was more because he was playing for an Eastern team after being spectacular at an Eastern college not because he was Black.

McNabb's comments were nothing but contingent in any case and certainly not worth you posting the same one twice times. McNabb was stabbed in the back by that ingrate after he had stood up for him and convinced the Eagles to take him. THAT is what I would criticize McNabb for.

"So McNabb believes only certain blacks can talk about race, and he can play the victim card all he wants, but as soon as Rush says something about race, he suddenly forgets all his past racial statements."

More falsehood and distortion. McNabb did not say any such thing nor did he say anything to get Rush fired. Rush shot himself in the foot. McNabb will also be back in the Pro Bowl before TO. It would be unbelievable to see what he could do with first rate receivers rather than the collection of ne'er do wells the Eagles have provided.

McNabb has never divided his team, never given the media any sensational stories, never been ANYTHING but the consumate team player at Mt. Carmel, Syracuse or the Eagles. Why there are those so ready to trash a good man and great player like him is very mysterious.

You would have to think that he would be in a state of disinhibition and would be more turthful than when 100% sober (for lack of a better phrase).

Yeah, but that's not accurate. When in a messed up state a person can barely even understand what is being asked. I have no doubt that they could have asked him if he was Asian and he would have said yes.

read line 6-7 WHY WOULD SHE TELL THE MEDICAL STAFF THAT HE IS DEPRESSED, THEN LIE IN THE PRESS CONFERENCE?

It was mostly true, the NFL wants a black QB to succeed, if Michael Vick were white would he have gotten this much time or would have been benched? Culpepper, Brooks etc... its hard not to notice this kind of thing, like theirs 2 different standards applied.

You're acting like people act rationaly and think everything out in an emergency situation.

The most likely situation, except to conspiracy theorists, is that she interpreted Owens' non-responsiveness and the missing bottle of medication as a suicide attempt and then connected the dots in her mind and started considering "frustration" and clinical depression.

It is not clear why are you working so hard to make this a suicide attempt. If it were, he would be under observation for 72 hours and not giving press conferences.

Also if he had taken 35 pills it is doubtful he would still be alive.

you dont know the law in Texas do you?
The police make that call and usually dont hold them against their will, unless they make statements that that they will harm themselves again.

Then that shows that they are discounting Owens statement to the first responders or that would be enough reason to hold him observation.
