Problem with being too polished is that it makes you seem inhuman. Do you really think somone as scripted as romney could pull a bullhorn moment like george bush did? I doubt it. I could see rudy or allen doing it, but certainly not romney. Mccain on the otherhand.... i can see him just having a meltdown.

That's exactly right. I did not intend that statement as a positive for Romney. One of the things I like most about GW is the fact he seem genuine, if not overly eloquent.

Romney has had the opportunity for a similar moment with a casualty from the Big Dig. His response was corporate - something along the lines of needing better policy, etc. I cannot see him with either tears or fire in his eyes.

I should add that even Romney's flip-flop on abortion (which I obviously agree with) seems only to add to his cool, computational nature, as though he's "positioning". I hope it is true and from the heart, but to this point have doubts.
