US Senator George Allen is responding to more allegations of racist behavior.
The latest comes from a former college teammate.
Former teammate Doctor Ken Shelton says, "Allen said he came to Virginia because he wanted to play football in a place where 'blacks knew their place.'"
"He used the N-word on a regular basis back then," said Shelton, who was in Salon.com.
During a hunting outing with Allen and another teammate, Shelton says Allen drove the three to a black neighborhood and "he proceeded to take the doe's head and stuff it into a mailbox."
Bishop Gerald Glenn says he used to see Allen as a Confederate flag waving redneck and has talked to the senator about his perception problem in the African American community.
While the two still disagree on key issues, Glenn says assassinating Allen's character does nothing for the voters of Virginia.
Allen told reporters today that he and Doctor Shelton weren't close and haven't spoken to each other in more than 30 years. Other teammates have released statements saying they've never heard Allen use racial slurs.
Allen's approval rating is down in the latest poll released today by SurveyUSA. The poll was taken last week, so the numbers do not reflect possible reaction to the Salon.com article.
Sorry, but he's been called away to an urgent meeting in Zotlandia. As has his alter ego Patrizot4notsoclever.
The next disease after Bush leaves office.. Allen Derangement Syndrome....
The guy he called "macaca" is white ~ probably much more so than most Freepers who think they are white.
I don't know a lot about Allen, but I would think that his more recent political actions would a lot more meaningful that his alleged actions from long ago that unsurprisingly get dragged out when he's running for President.
Little does he know the man's from Palos Verdes!!!
His father was a football coach who coached and hung out with many black athletes.
George Allen was a very, very good football coach and super motivator, not only for the LA Rams and Washington Redskins, but later at Pacific University (IIRC). He treated EVERYONE with the true respect necessary for real motivation to take place. There's no way, absolutely no way, that George Allen's son could be, or could have ever been a racist.
Come on, people. You can find the real story about all this stuff in just a few minutes on the Internet. I did. I'm not an Allen operatve and I don't even live in Virginia anymore. But this smear stuff really pisses me off. Why are you believing this stuff being reported in the liberal media? These are the same people that brought you the Valerie Plame non-story, the fake Bush TANG memos, the fauxtography from Lebanon, and numerous other made-up stories. THEY. ARE. MAKING. THIS. STUFF. UP.
Also, most folks living in Virginia ARE NOT SOUTHERNERS.
Sir, I do not know where you are coming from, but apparently you,in your imperious, menacing-man-of-few-words-way, seem to think YOU know where I am coming from.
Which is why I am leaving this thread, where I am sure you will find someone else to lecture.Goodbye. PUT ME ON YOUR NO CALL LIST.
Conservatives are supposed to be rational and intelligent. Someof the people here would buy the Brooklyn Bridge from me.
Thanks for playing.
Amen to that...I don't live too far from the CT/MA border so I hear a lot of news from up there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't he one of the major proponents of the socialized healthcare system that's now in place up there in MA?
Go figure. It is very disheartening. I talked to a close friend tonight who is a longtime Northern Virginia Republican activist, and he just believed all of this stuff. I spent an hour talking him through all the stuff that I found in 20 minutes on the Internet. I'm going on every website, chat board, and blog I can find to get this stuff debunked. But I'm afraid it is an uphill battle unless we catch somebody redhanded like we did with the Bush TANG memos.
I remember when his father, the football coach, left the Rams & took over the Redskins job. There were several Ram players that would have crawled over broken glass to go with him -- he was that well respected. IIRC, many of those players were black. How does this square with the accusations against the son?
I think the doctor would be a good place to start. I will spend some time tomorrow seeing what I can find out.
Perhaps, but that is not the point, and it is important that we not allow liberals to come here and quote FReepers saying it is OK to use the n-word, or assuming that George Allen did but that's OK because KKK Byrd did too. It's NEVER OK and it has NEVER been OK. The point is that NONE of this has been proven about Senator Allen, none of it is being reported by sources who are anywhere near credible, Senator Allen has denied it as have 16 of his former teammates, and we have example after example of fake stories being thrown out against Republican candidates that are simply not true. If any liberals are reading this, and we know they are, they need to know that we are not going to dismiss this and we are not going to take these smears lying down. We are sick of the race card being thrown in every damn campaign when Democrats get behind.
