What Michael has been saying is more or less that although we carried out a brilliant campaign to "conquer Iraq" and capture Saddam, our followup has been abysmal.

This point is indisputable. Frankly many of the problems we are having can be traced to three items:
(1) Colin Powell's shoddy treatment of Turkey which led to their last-minute refusal to let the 4th A.D. use their territory, which permitted men, materiel and WMD to escape over Syrian border and foregin fighters to slip in. Powell was totally incompetant.
(2) The appointment of Paul "Pussy" Bremer. We needed a MacArthur and Bush put in a Dr. Phil. The results of Bremer's pathetically weak stewardship can be seen to this very day.
(3) Pentagon's failure to apply maximum force and/or ruthlessness when required. Examples: failure to retaliate for Fallujah body burnings, not executing Al Sadr, approach to battle of Fallujah, permitting Iraqi court to try Saddam, etc.

Well for one thing, none of those "programs" would even ask Klintoon about his failures in killing bin Laden. Not really failures... more like an out-and-out refusal to nab or kill bin Laden. Plus, you can't get any more softball than NPR and Larry King.

Powell was/is EEOC scum, and a seditious traitor (Armitage-Plame crap). I despise his guts. Bremer was a political appointment, not a war-time necessity and a weak admin when we needed an iron fist w/ no velvet glove.

It's amazing it took this long to come out, and even then it was muted. 'Staged' might be too strong a word: how about 'normal' Bill finally showed up in an interview.
