We got a lot more than that as a tax rebate when we lived in MN. The first check was $2900 I recall.
wife and I both voted for Jesse. He was saying all the right things...smaller government, fewer state employees, bringing an end to ridiculous regulations. Then, about 6 months into his term, he simply went crazy paranoid, made threats against reporters, etc. Not sure what happened but it was fun for a few weeks.

Pretty much the same thing I heard from our family (in-laws) on the Iron Range. They appreciated the bribe, the loved the inaugural, one was holding out for Jessie to legalize drugs then they all thought he started acting strange. When folks on the Iron Range think you're strange...

He wouldn't have been to first person to enter politics as an idealist and came out as a cynic.
