I was never a big fan of either place. The ladies were always kind of surley.
I would travel out to Webster or Oxford when I wanted that kind of "entertainment".
My good friend used to live at the development that backed up to the Cab. They would do their charity carwash in the summer. We would sit on his porch with a 12 pack and watch the show...I mean the girls opening their hearts to a worth while charity.

From the picture, I'd say the Hood's encroaching on rural areas.

I'm sure it was a show worth not paying to see.

Fuzzy grape?

I'm from out west, don't really remember the central mass stuff.

I grew up in Peabody, I used to go to the Wardhurst when it was a City Workers Club, I think that I was 17 at the time, 1963 maybe.

In those days you would get a City job for the summer, if you were connected, with the Parks Department. You would report at 7 and start drinking at 10:30, the guy, city employee, you worked for operated on the rule, you buy or you work. Booze was cheap so the option was taken, the only problem was getting him back to the city garage at quitting time.

I did miss the occasion when my Brother in Laws Father, Nutsy, tossed a paving block through the window after they shut him off at the bar. Then again he was the only person I ever knew that got shut off at Skals, so that kind of behavior was expected.

Used to be the Grape. Now called Marios. Well worth the trip.
I grew up on the mean street of Sturbridge.

Maybe the pilot did not like the smell of dairy air!

Wow, you were there during the hay-days.
Its actually a really nice place now. Alot of Seniors go there so when I went in, it dropped the median age by about 53 years.
You also have to be careful of the oxygen bottles all around.
This is a true story, my GF and I were in there and the owner asked if we could start bringing in some of our friends because their patrons were really starting to kick off in large numbers.
Its nice to know that city workers never change.

Ah, good ole route 20. I know Yankee Discount Liquors well. Used to pull in there for a fresh six pack on my way home from my ship for liberty.

Actually the best place to get in trouble was Tanners on Foster Street, the nearest thing that I have seen in NE to a F and F bar out side of the South.

Moes Skellar around the corner was the rat political hang out you got to see all of the local political honchos get fall down drunk, my best pals mother was a local ward heeler for the rats, so I had a lot of entertainment.

yes, Kerry Healey lives in "Curtis Point" near Endicott College....a mile from me (I'm nr Dane St Beach). She's closer to Endicott than to Prides Crossing.

Caught in Teddy Kennedy's gravitational pull, no doubt.

Foster street was classic. Tanners is still there and a place called Champions. Best steak tips ever. The place is scary to walk into the first time but the food is awesome.

I ran into a few weezle salons there.

I worked at teh Oxhead Tavern across the parking lot from there when I got out of the service.
Had a great time.
Sturbridge is a good town to be from.

Reminds me of "As God is my witness, I swear, I thought turkeys could fly." Remember that line?

Probably one of the classic scenes of all time! The whole show was classic. I was in radio at the time and knew how close it came to being the truth, at least for stations in that size market and especially smaller markets.
