Hello again Lori & Amy,
Reread the thread again & loved the wonderful display of pix that you did Lori..
and the story about chi's vet trip is a hoot.. she starts squealing when the vet enters. I am sure there are a lot of differences from big/small doggies...just take from granted dogs are dogs!
my trip as I said this summer was really NOT a vacation. just 23 hours from Leaving Ohio to NC & returning.
My good friend John didn't want me driving alone in my better van so he offered to rent a car for us & my two dogs. His truck only seats 2 in front.
We left at 1 AM & got to the church early & I was able to visit with my dear friends from my home church for a few hours first. Had a good place with woods, shade to tie up the doggies for the afternoon.
My friend who committed suicide was my age. He & his wife were good friends of ours & he was prolly the last person one could think of to do this. There was some depression the past couple months & he was put on some meds that apparently helped push him too far.
They were a happy couple, he recently retired, they were financially strong & had a great son. I am just hoping that if there is some bad surprise that turns up, my friend Carol will be able to handle in without too much pain.
I took a lot of pix for them ...
It was the nicest to see my "kids" . I was youth coach for the jr & sr. high kids for my 15 years there & now most are married & with families. Many of the out of towners came in for the funeral.
On the way back we stopped at
Tamarack,.. my friend really enjoyed this little stop. In Winston Salem I was able to give a pretty thorough tour. We got to NC plenty early & so had a few hours before hand to give him the 25 cent tour.
My pooches traveled well..
by the time we got back to Ohio it was about 11.. we stopped in at the local Holiday Inn for about an hour for the Twins Day Party that was going on & I took pix & visited a bit.
I was home by midnight & so we covered 1100 miles, did tourist, & attended funeral, graveside, dinner for friend in a short time.
It was nice to be in the mountains again.. such beauty there. We live in a very lovely, diverse area but the mountains & ocean hold special places in my heart.
here is a pix of me and two of my "kids" .. both married ministers & one lives in Fla & the other in Louisville, Ky, (they are sisters)& their mom, my dear friend Lu, is on the far right.. and other pix is of me & my travel companion/friend John.
the next two are of Bill .. one his military(air force VietNam) pix & the other of he & his son in late 70s when we first met them.
