On Saturday, October 7, 2006, CorridorWatch.org will host their second Toll & Corridor Summit in Austin, Texas.
CorridorWatch.org is pleased to announce Dr. Pat Choate as the featured lunch keynote speaker during the daylong Summit II meeting in Austin.
A native of Maypearl, Texas, Pat Choate is an independent thinker unafraid to ruffle establishment feathers. With a doctorate in economics focused on the role of government and industries in economic development, Choate has made waves challenging the benefit of free trade. In 1993, he co-authored with H. Ross Perot the best-selling book "Save Your Job, Save Our Country: Why NAFTA Must Be Stopped -- Now!"
With a broad knowledge of public-private partnerships and the economic impact of free trade agreements Dr. Choate will provide with his perspective on the Trans Texas Corridor.
CorridorWatch.org co-founder David Stall said, "Dr. Choate will provide Summit attendees with a unique opportunity to learn more about the 'big picture' impact the Trans Texas Corridor will have on our state and country." "The TTC threatens to put critical Texas transportation infrastructure in a NAFTA corridor operated by a public-private monopoly under the control of foreign interests," said Stall. "The TTC is more than just a highway, it represents a dramatic shift in public policy that will affect Texas in ways not yet fully understood," says Stall.
Other announced speakers include: Bill Barker, David Showalter, Erik Slotboom, and David Stall. Additional speakers will be announced as they are confirmed.
Summit speakers will cover a number of topics including: private property rights, environmental impact of the TTC, Texas traffic trends & projections, TTC-35, TTC-69, public-private partnerships, and effective grassroots organization.
This Summit continues a process begun two years ago to educate and create an informed public. With this meeting CorridorWatch.org will continue to better define our concerns and issues and determine what action is required to address those concerns and issues. Working together with other organized grassroots advocacy groups CorridorWatch.org effectively shares knowledge and expertise with other concerned and action motivated Texans.

Trans-Texas Corridor PING!
The whole reason I am voting against Perry is because of this Corridor.
It's is a $500 billion monstrosity that doesn't even connect the largest cities of Texas.
Paging Dr. Corsi! Paging Dr. Corsi! Urgent!
"The whole reason I am voting against Perry is because of this Corridor."
Same here. If he would just keep the freeway system, I'd even forgive him on the business tax and the out-of-control education spending (especially considering the alternatives). But selling out control of our highways is something that will take generations to undue, unlike virtually any other issue - so he must be stopped now (unless someone can shake enough sense into him so that he stops himself).
BTTT
Perry will undoubtedly win the election because, *Big Money* (including foreign investors) has a real stake in this monstrosity. I have a feeling deals have been signed and the money's been transfered.
Thanks for the ping!
You're welcome.
bump.
Agreed. I didn't think it possible, but he's making Gray Davis look clean.
