Didn't "M" admonish James Bond for carrying a Beretta because it lacked stopping power?
Years ago, I fired a .45 auto Colt. Holy smokes, sounded and felt like a cannon going off!

I guess no Sig Sauer P226 pistols for all. Oh wait, that's not American made... the Mark 23?

Wasn't Bond's Beretta a .25? Pretty wimpy caliber.

The Beretta he was admonished for carrying was a .25 cal ... and he replaced it with the more powerful (!) .380 cal Walther ...

Didn't "M" admonish James Bond for carrying a Beretta because it lacked stopping power? No, I believe it was the Walther PPK (8mm).

Just bought me a P45 Kahr 6+1, single stack magazine 4 inch barrel semi-automatic, double action only. Weighs 20 ounces. Put 100 rounds of .45 ball through it this past Saturday. Worked great, no mis-feeds, and once I got used to the trigger, was able to keep them in a four inch bull at 15 to 20 yards. .45 Cal is a good round.
As an aside, the Coast Guard appears to be changing from 9mm to 40 S&W.

Yes. M's assistant from Q branch said the department viewed 007's .25 cal. pistol as a "ladies' gun, sir".

Years ago, I fired a .45 auto Colt. Holy smokes, sounded and felt like a cannon going off! Yer' kidding. I'm no recoil junky, but a .45 ACP just doesn't kick that much to me. .45 Long Colt, now that's a horse of a different aphorism.
I grew up shooting a .357, my favorite "carry" pistol is a Witness 10mm. My Taurus 92AF 9mm is a pussy cat by comparison.

Years ago, I fired a .45 auto Colt. Holy smokes, sounded and felt like a cannon going off!Have you ever fired a .44 Mag? A .454 Casull? The .45 ACP is mild compared to those.

Years ago, I fired a .45 auto Colt. Holy smokes, sounded and felt like a cannon going off! Naw, shoot a .44 magnum for awhile -- that'll put the .45 acp into better perspective. The 1911 pistol and .45 acp ammo are a perfect marriage.

James Bond carried a Walther PPK, which fires the .380 Auto.

Years ago, I fired a .45 auto Colt. Holy smokes, sounded and felt like a cannon going off!You just need to fire it some more, experience soon diminishes the FELT recoil of any gun even though the actual recoil remains the same. Compared to real powerhouse handgun rounds like the .45 Casull or the .480 Ruger the old .45acp is a pussycat to shoot, but it's bullet carries a big enough punch to usually do the job when it hits a human target.
