I went on record criticizing the .380 as a defense round on another thread the other day. The responses were interesting. Some agreed, one disagreed.
I own a couple... better than a .25 and about the same knockdown as a .38 Special. It is a backup caliber, but 007 was superhuman, so he didn't need more firepower! ;-)

I carry a .380 PPK most of the time, but I understand why the caliber isn't great for primary defense. I carry it because it's been reliable, I'm accurate with it, and it's easily concealable...If I ever need to use it I'm confident that I'll hit what I'm aiming at. That said, if I had my druthers (and the money) I'd have a nice compact .40 for concealed carry.
I bought a .380 Llama many years ago for concealed carry. It's built just like a scaled-down 1911. With Cor-Bon loads it would be a whole lot better than nothing in a pinch. Fortunately, so far I've never had to find out just how good it is.
