'Tax the rich' has a pumped-up proponent [Schwarzenegger CA]
Sacramento Bee ^ | Kevin Yamamura | Kevin Yamamura

....

As for higher gas taxes, the governor said he opposes them because they hurt the poor more than anyone. Then he suggested he might not be opposed to higher gas taxes if there was a way to levy a steeper rate on wealthy drivers.

"So this is why I'm not for it, just because it's unfair the way it is done," Schwarzenegger said. "Ideally, if we had such a thing where those that have more money paid more and those that have no money paid less or nothing, if there could be such a thing. ... But we don't. There's no computer when you walk up to the gas station, to the pump, that automatically when you put the (card) up says, 'OK, you have $18,000 in income a year, so you pay only this.' That doesn't exist."

Envisioning higher taxes on the rich to lower the burden of low-income Californians? Sounds like Angelides talking.

I'm not for taxing rich people more because they're rich.

Surely Mr. Schnortzenegger understands that taxation and regulation causes PAIN!!!

If you don't want "rich" people in CA, then tax their asses off!!!

Soon all you'll have is poorer people and a more miniscule, microscopic minority of Liberal "rich" people who are too guilt ridden over their perceived "illgotten gains" to understand what's happening to their wealth, or too stupid to care.

In the last case then, it's then right to tax those lame-brained Liberal remainders to make them happy!!!

From personal experience I can safely say that I WAS NEVER HIRED BY A POOR CAULEEFORNEEUN!!!

Won't work. The rich are the class of people that sell their services and products to us, the poor. All the rich will do if you raise their taxes is they will raise the cost of their services and products and the poor will still pay the tax and the rich will still enjoy the same level of riches they now enjoy. Get it? That is why the rich get richer and richer.

Technology is coming on your car that will communicate with the gas pump when you pull up to fuel. Then that technology will track your miles driven and tax you again. The money will be taken directly out of your bank account. It will also fine you for speeding, following too close, unsafe lane changes, (fill in your own uses)

Pretty odd that it doesn't exist...

For we have the ultra-power hungry, and NOSY I.R.S. that knows what they shouldn't about our income. Giving any institution as much control over people as the I.R.S. has, was carefully avoided by our Founding Fathers.

But somebody in government deemed it to be good and right to take people to the cleaners for their own monetary benefit. Okay, so if the IRS is such a good and right thing, then how come the, pay according to income, is not immediately calculated. Could it be because they really want to rip lower income people to pieces and let the more well-to-do, laugh all the way to the bank then go rest on their yachts.

Along with a federal government that is unnecessarily big and fat, we have an intrusive IRS that knows our income, and they quite frequently and routinely abuse United States citizens with this bit of info...

You are precisely and totally correct! It's the system they've either proposed, or installed in Oregone!!!

Socialistic Schwartzenrenegger WANT'S IT HERE!!!

The people of CA didn't ask for THIS!!!

Just exactly like they did not EVER ask for the SIERRA-NEVADA CON-SERVANCY!!!

The actor forgot his lines and the true Arnold came out. IMO, the man is clueless and always has been--he's nothing more than Maria and momma Eunice's puppet. Uncle Teddy must be proud.

Karl Marx? Stick an "R" by his name--he can win! /sarcasm

Here's a new slogan for FO and friends:

Arnold, he may be a communist, but a least he's a Republican communist.

By not voting for Karl Marx (R), you're really voting for Bustamante/Angelides. How much are they paying you? < /sarcasm > ;-)

That sounds about as logical as what some of the hacks have spammed around here.

By not voting for Karl Marx (R), you're really voting for Bustamante/Angelides.

There's that "winning" GOP "strategy" for ya!

I'd be laughing if I weren't crying. ;-)

Same could be said for authors of pornographic romance novels.

She may be a pornographer, but at least she's a conservative pornographer, right?

When technology evolves as far as you describe, it could also include the state income tax data base and actually used for what the governator describes.
