Clinton first mentioned that Clarke was demoted. Later he intimated he was fired. I thought Clarke stepped down and retired a year later. Anyone know if he was fired?

Clarke kept insisting the real threat was from Cyber Terrorism.

Dr. Rice thought differently and he was no longer giving the President the daily brief.

My suspicion is that Clarke's ego could not stand that demotion and he left, bitter bitter bitter.
