OT: Does anyone know if archived newspaper articles on the net are free to the public libraries?

Not necessarily. Most libraries I'm familiar with offer archives newspaper articles on CD-ROM rather than depending on internet archives. Best to check with your local library.

You are close to the Allen co. Gen. Library. They would have newspaper arch back to 1800s.

I have access to old papers as I sub. to Ancestry.com
