Patrick Hynes discussed his book In Defense of the Religious Right: Why Conservative Christians Are the Lifeblood of the Republican Party and Why That Terrifies the Democrats, published by Nelson Current. In his book Patrick Hynes challenges negative stereotypes associated with conservative Christians. He refers to religious conservatives as "the lifeblood of the Republican party." Mr. Hynes discussed his book with guest interviewer Richard Cizik.

Patrick Hynes is a Republican political consultant. He also writes for the American Spectator, is a blogger for anklebitingpundits.com, and previously served on the Concord Monitor’s board of contributors.

Richard Cizik is vice president for governmental affairs for the National Association of Evangelicals.

A caller on Washington Journal just mentioned a shooting involving a Pennsylvania state senators gun and wanted to know more about it. The caller said no names were mentioned in the TV report he heard.

Neither the host or the Roll Call staff writer knew anything about it.

Has anyone here heard about it?
