Russert was like a host in a Infomercial. No tough questions, just soft balls and leading questions about what the 'Rats should do about the mean Republicans.

"Zogby was on Hannitys radio show 2 days ago. He has Webb up 8 over Allen."

Zogby isn't very credible IMHO. Real Clear politics has Allen up by 4.7% and has the race as 'leans Republican' (sorry, I don't know how to format):

Polling Data
Poll Date Sample Allen (R) Webb (D) Undecided Spread
RCP Average 09/05 - 09/12 - 48.0 43.3 7.7 Allen +4.7
Rasmussen 09/12 - 09/12 500 LV 50 43 7 Allen +7.0
SurveyUSA 09/10 - 09/12 467 LV 48 45 4 Allen +3.0
Mason-Dixon 09/05 - 09/07 625 LV 46 42 12 Allen +4.0

what I mean by tough is getting 60 votes to stop much of the nonsense that goes on in the Senate....right now that's McConnell's job and he can't get it done

One loser in all this will be Tim Russert. While Wallace asks the hard questions and takes the heat from them, Russert will be shown as being a soft interview.

the law against assassination is a Presidential executive order dating back to Gerald Ford. Other presidents can change or waive that executive order at will. But they are required to inform Congress.

And with likes of Specter, Snowe, McCain, Graham, Chaffee, what do you expect?

McConnell not tough enough to be majority leader? Rubbish. He is the one that led the fight against McCain on campaign finance reform.

Hi Sleuth!

It is great to see you, too! Thanks for the kind remarks. I've had work and personal commitments (and a couple of vacations) to deal with this summer - so have been going non-stop and, unfortunately haven't had time to FReep and participate in the Sunday thread - which I've missed!

I'll try to hang out as I can - -need to run soon (I've already stayed on longer than I planned - - I almost forgot how addictive FR, exspecially this thread is!! LOL)

Best,
SC

Thanks, that makes me a bit more optimistic. But, from what I am seeing about his dismal performance today, will that slim lead hold?

"Great compilation of Clinton's timing.."

Thanks, but Howlin deserves all the credit - all I did was repost their post on this thread.

that's less an explanation than my understanding, based on such authoritative sources as Tom Clany's books.

Please note my tag line... ;^>

As I said, I'm sure it's there but unsure of specifics. So I'll take your explanation until someone corrects us. Which is another reason I have not stolen your great tag line. It describes me all too often.
