Diana chose our troops over politics-she chose the people of the 12th District that she will soon represent, not a photo-op with VP Cheney. She chose the troops and she chose us.

We have a choice to make as well, I choose Diana Irey.

I did tape the whole thing. Now I just need to upload it over the next few days; I'll probably put two or three speakers on each upload.

All of our speakers were great, all spoke from the heart - something practically unheard of in DC.

All the speakers were just wonderful in unique ways; engaging, inspiring and really informative.

Many tourists of all nationalities walked down to admire and take pictures of the huge beautiful flag from Fort Benning that graced the stage.

To all you male FReepers, you missed a chance to hear the firey Mrs. Irey, whose sincere respect and love for our troops just shines out from her heart. And she's even lovelier in person than she is in pictures!

Diana even gave me a hug. I think she's the first politician that's ever done that. I made sure to tell her my son patrolled in Haditha, and I damn sure don't appreciate what Jack Murtha says about my home boys.

I hope you looked around during the final musical tribute and prayer. People were standing at attention all over the hill behind us, even as the gold and blue star parents stood at attention in front of the flag on stage. It was extremely moving.

I am sorry to say we missed that.

Mrs. Smooth and I left around 3PM. We had a long drive back to Washington, PA. We prefer driving in daylight. Night driving is difficult for us.

I thank you for sharing that with me.

Nevertheless, it was a joy for us to be around so many wonderful people while we were there.
