Teased about older wife, man seeks divorce
Chinadaily ^ | 09/22/2006

The Xinhui District People's Court in the city of Jiangmen, Guangdong Province, threw out a lawsuit for divorce filed by a local husband surnamed Zhao on Tuesday.

Zhao, born in 1972, went to court after more than a decade of being a laughing stock among neighbours and friends because his wife is seven years older than him.

The court, however, refused to accept the case, saying that Zhao lacked enough reason for divorce because Zhao married his wife of his own accord after two years of dating.

Hmm, China has better divorce laws than this country.

Seven years is nothing. The way this article was presented I thought she was 30 years older than him or something!

If she was 30 years older, I would think he would just wait for her to die. Divorce cases in China can be lengthy

Jeeze, I know women age fast, but surely she was already older than he was when they married.

Some people look for things to be upset about, he must have been a Dem.

This couple needs new friends and neighbors. The husband needs to grow up.

So she's a 1965 model? Does he want to trade for a classic 1956 model, like my wife?

Kidding aside, my wife is oriental and it is only in the last couple of years that people stopped carding her when she buys beer for me. My 17 year old's schoolmates have seen them together at the store and later asked who his girlfriend was. (And our first was 5 years older than him.)

Just thought of thet old Benny Hill song about "Give me the older woman every time..."

My wonderful bride is a full 10 years older than I am. I would not change a thing about my marriage to her. If I had problems with her age, I would never have married her.

If this jerk lets some people ruin what should be love, then he needs to grow up.

Women should always marry younger men as they tend to live longer than males.

All of our girls are three or four years older than their husbands.

Good point he doesn't need to be married at all if he is going to let other people run his marriage.

Great reply MissouriConservative!

This story reminds me of my grandparents. My gramps was 16 and working on his father's farm in rural North Carolina when our country was attacked at Pearl Harbor. He left home and fibbed about his age in order to enlist. A few years later he met and married my grandmother who was a nurse in Elizabeth City, where they eventually settled and raised a family.

They had been married for like 43 years and my grandmother turned 65 and signed them both up for a senior citizen's medication discount when she discovered she was older than him! Haha! She still gets miffed when the subject comes up. =p

My Latina wife is 8 years ahead of me.

The only problem this ever raised was children (we married late, she was a widow, etc.).

We think we have that problem solved: adoption. Sometime next month, we take possession of our new daughters, ages 9 and 4. 'Older' brother is ecstatic (he'll no longer be the baby).

But they're turning my art studio into a bedroom! From pin up and fantasy to Bratz and Strawberry Shortcake!

= )

If you don't mind my asking, are you adopting your daughters from foster care? Or abroad?

Good luck, and blessings.

That's what I tell my wife. Since women tend to live about 10 years or so longer than men, she won't be able to live off of my social security.....lol

Yep, if he's man enough to marry her, he's man enough to tell these other people where to take their noses and stick em.

Foster.

When we started considering adoption, we checked into the 'children abroad' market, but even w/federal assistance for adoption, it was still QUITE expensive. And they were all infants/toddlers.

We're in our lower to upper 40's, and were looking more for kids that would be, well, somewhat realistic (I do not wish to emulate Tony Randall, thank you SO much!).

We considered fostering, but wifey could not bear the thought of giving the kids back!
