Liberal crusader on wrong side of civil rights

The devil you know is better than the Deval you don’t.

What a bounce this guy gets from Tuesday’s victory - he’s up 64-25 in the first post-primary poll.

But this is the way it always begins for Deval, in a rush of euphoria and beaming liberals feeling less guilty about their trust funds. It usually ends not so well, in the corporate world with a seven-figure severance, or in the public sector with Senate hearings and denunciations of Deval’s “Gestapo tactics” and running “roughshod over citizens, over communities.”

You know who said that about Deval Patrick at a U.S. Senate hearing in September 1996? Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun, a black Democrat from Deval’s hometown of Chicago.

Deval was the assistant attorney general for civil rights. Susan Golding, then the mayor of San Diego, told the senators that Patrick’s office had been so tyrannical that she had to ask herself if she “was still living in the United States of America.”

OK, the above quotes come from The Washington Times. But liberals have the same take on Deval’s zeal for the racial spoils system. In Boston magazine, Jon Keller found this 1994 description of Deval in The New Republic:

“Deval Patrick has committed the Clinton administration to a vision of racial preference that fulfills the most extravagant fantasies of a conservative attack ad. Rather than honestly confronting the costs of affirmative action, Patrick has blithely endorsed the most extreme form of racialism.”

Here’s a quote from Deval at a congressional hearing in 1995:

“It is a myth that there are unqualified, undeserving women and minorities who are getting benefits that should go to qualified, deserving white men.”

*ping* The more you read about Deval, the scarier he sounds. NY & MA are going to have some real bonafide megalomanical wackjob Governors come January.

If Comrade Patrick becomes Governor and Comrade Sanders (self-proclaimed Socialist) becomes Vermont Senator, and with Comrade Spitzer going to be NYS Governor, I think maybe they should consider secession and joining the EU or Canada.

Oh, wait -- Canada elected the Tories. Even they wouldn't want these states any more.
