Last I checked, in CA, public employees, teachers, police, and firefighters make between 50-70 grand a year (sometimes more). Nurses nearly 100,000 grand. Most low level jobs start at 8-10 dollars per hour. Rents on a house, anywhere in CA is at a minimum 1000 and on average 1400 dollars.

What is it about CA the rest of the nation doesn't understand? Is it so bad out in the East that they no longer teach mathematics?

Beg to differ on this one; I live in Arcadia/Monrovia/Duarte/Bradbury area and the median rent fee for an apartment mind you is upward of $2500.00 (2 Bedrooms, 2 Bath, Pool, Security etc/pp).
Need I talk about San Marino, South Pasadena...

What's your point? Are you saying life is good, and well-paid in CA? Or are you pointing out, to the contrary, that taxes are astronomical in order to pay those high public employee salaries and benefits that you cite. Because of the high taxes (and even with them, the government isn't taking in enough to meet its generous promises to public workers), the private sector middle class is being ground down in California. Are you celebrating these trends, or bemoaning them? Again, I'm not sure about the point of your post.
