I didn't say the plane couldn't make it. I've heard the 747 can fly on one engine.

But it read like there was a flaming blowout, and, what with wings full of fuel, coming in for an inspection just seemed to make sense.

Can you imagine if you saw that blowout and heard this: "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain. Pay no attention to the flames on engine no. 3. We'll be over the Atlantic in an hour. Enjoy your flight..."
