I don't know why this article reminds me of poor Dan Quayle's misfortune of misspelling potato, but it does. Do you remember when Dan Quayle was filmed in an elementary school and misspelled potato? Do you remember when the media and the alphabet networks talked about it ad nauseum, ridiculed and poked fun of Quayle for months because he added an "e" onto the end of potato? The media thought potatoes were the only political news worth reporting at the time.

Now let's fast forward to today and compare that Chavez, a crude loud mouth dictator from this hemisphere who came here and took advantage of American hospitality to insult and degrade our President. His behavior is hard for most Americans to swallow, especially when remembering how Dan Quayle was ridiculed and mocked for goofing up and adding an "e" to the word, potato.

Contrast the media's relentless attacks on Quayle to the treatment they've given Hugo Chavez, a man that will go down in history as giving the most insulting and crude speech that has ever been given in the history of the United Nations, attacking our President and country.

Chavez was allowed to leave the U.N. and continue his anti-Bush and anti-American rhetoric in New York City. Yes, the press covered it, but in a sneering way. The DBM/MSM wasn't collectively outraged, nor did they condemn Chavez. They didn't even poke fun at him, but instead giggled at the spectacle. The fact that the MSM/DBM didn't condemn or at least editorialize that Chavez is a nut unhinged, speaks volumes and is once again evidence of their blatant media bias.

It is outrageous to see that these same media outlets have glossed over the fact that Chavez tauted Chomsky's book on television and in front of hundreds, said that he wished he would have met Chomsky before he died. Never mind that Chomsky is alive and 77 years old!

Wouldn't you expect your American media to at least make as much fun of Chavez as they did Dan Quayle when he stated that his hero, Chomsky, was dead? Isn't Chavez's "goof" a lot huger than Dan Quayle's "e"?

If that's not a perfect example of media bias, I don't know what is!

Chomsky IS dead. It's just that nobody's told him yet.

I sympathize with you disgust for Chavez, but I think you are missing something. His speech is probably giving Bush and the Republicans a major boost. I think he should be allowed to give speeches at the UN whenever he wishes. Freedom of speech has more benefits than we sometimes realize.
