The U.N. address by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has had an unexpected impact on the best seller lists of Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com.
At the start of his talk Wednesday, during which Chavez referred to President Bush as "the devil," Chavez held up a book by Noam Chomsky, "Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance," and recommended it to everyone in the General Assembly, as well as to the American people.
"The people of the United States should read this . . . instead of the watching Superman movies," Chavez later told reporters.
As of Thursday afternoon, "Hegemony or Survival," originally published in 2003, had jumped into the top 10 of Amazon and Barnes & Noble.com.
Metropolitan Books, an imprint of Henry Holt, has ordered an additional paperback printing of 25,000 copies.
Chomsky, the famed 77-year-old linguist, has long been an opponent of U.S. foreign policy. His many books include "9-11," a best-selling collection of interviews, and "Failed States," which came out last spring.

His books praise dictators. Dictators praise his books.
Hugo has caused sky-rocketing sales of ammunition in my neighborhood.
;-)
And oh by the way Hugo, Chomsky is not dead. LOL.
Thats funny.
So Norm is doing well because of the Book of the Month Club by Hugo Chavez. I wonder if he is going to partner with Amazon or Oprah.
So Hugo Chavez has somnething in common with Hillary Clinton. No surprise there.
When I was getting my teaching degree 10 years ago Chomsky was required reading.Complete psycho babble , b*llshit .Confusing , obnoxious and absurd.Total Leftist junk.
Brit Humme reported tonight that while Chavez was hawking Chomsky's book he lamented how he wished he would have met him before he died. Brit said that would probably be news to Chomsky since he was still alive and is 77 years of age!
Chaves is a delightful old fool.... LOL, best laugh I had all day!
But, but...that's capitalism!
I know exactly what Hugo can do with the book.

A wise man once said: "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS."
I haven't read that book, and don't intend to, but I read some of Chomsky's earlier writings when he was still doing what was said to be groundbreaking work in linguistics.
I found it frankly unreadable, one of the earliest instances of what became an avalanch of postmodernist duckspeak. I don't think linguists still consider it worth much either, although that it made his reputation.
It's #2 right now:

What Chavez doesn't know is that people in the US don't read books.
Chavez is apparently gay for Superman
Chavez is wackier than his idol Chumpsky. Ever notice that rich Commies with lots of money have bigger mouths than just plain old Commies?
What ever became of Sheehans new book "Peace Mom"? wasnt that to be released on the 19th?
It would be ironic if her pal Hugo caused her book to not get any attention from the left by promoting Chomskys book.
Noam Chomsky. Nine out of 10 despots agree: He's swell!!
