Canadians journalists have been waiting so long to be able to mimmick their american counterparts about those issues ie the war & the courts. It is so pathetic to watch them:not a single original thought or analysis anywhere.

You're right about that.
Unlike the U.S., there are no checks and balances on the P.M's power to appoint -- no Senate review, etc.
When the Li(e)breals were in power, lefties were united in saying that Parliamentary review of judicial appointments would be "un-Canadian" -- or worse "American". The MSM never failed to fawn over whoever was appointed. Now, the media sees the need for critical oversight -- maybe full-scale Parliamentary reviews will be next. This wouldn't be a bad use for the Senate. (There would have to be rules preventing filibusters, and the type of personal smearing that the U.S. Senate engages in, whenever there's a conservative nominee in front of them.)
