Senator George Allen confirmed his Jewish heritage, one day after refusing to answer that question during a debate.
9NEW NOW reporter Peggy Fox, a panelist at the debate, asked Allen "could you please tell us if your forebearers include Jews and at what point your Jewish identity ended." Fox's question was initially raised by reporters at the Jewish Daily Forward, a newspaper that had previously wondered if Allen was attempting to hide his heritage so as not to alienate some Virginia voters.........
Reporter Peggy Fox says she stands by her question despite the fact that Allen says he found it especially reprehensible that she would "impugn the attitudes of my mother."
Fox says she believed it was a yes or no question and was shocked by Senator Allen's response.

Well now that that is put to bed as to pedigree, I am sure that has some significance about something. The only thing, is that I don't know what that is. So much BS comes out of the public square, and there is so little time.

Why is this such a big deal? So what if Allen has a little bit of jewish in his roots? Are the Dems going to use that against him? Isnt that stupidity since many jews are democrats? I really dont get it why they brought this up.

Harding was no saint but not as bad a president as history would have it. He killed the League, ended a pending arms race, and helped Germany on the way to recovery. People credit Hughes with these. but Harding chose Hughes and backed him.

I am neither an expert nor a historian, but, since no one else replied, I thought I would offer a few possible explanations.
One explanation is that Jews were blamed, by some, for the death of Jesus.
Another explanation is that around the year 400, because Jews would not adhere to the governing Roman religious practices, they were dispersed from Israel and were not always accepted by the groups they settled among.
Jews' fewer numbers and insular behavior made them a target for dictators and politicians who wanted to distract their citizens.
The spread of Christianity through Europe caused tension because Jews refused to convert.
Likewise, Mohammed targeted Jews during his conquest of Arabia.
One theory about Moslem hatred for Jews is that it is a recent trend that Moslems learned from Hitler and Nazi Germany. (I'm just repeating what I read and saw on TV.) Supposedly the Mufti of Jerusalem was invited to Nazi Germany and told he would be rewarded if the Arabs/Moslems helped the Axis powers rid the Mid East of Jews.
My personal experience with antisemitism leads me to believe that children often learn it from their parents, with neither generation questioning what they are doing. I have been places, like Yugoslavia and Jordan, where there were no Jews for hundreds of miles or dozens of years, yet the local people blamed their problems on Jews.
