STILLMORE, Ga. -- Trailer parks lie abandoned. The poultry plant is scrambling to replace more than half its workforce. Business has dried up at stores where Mexican laborers once lined up to buy food, beer and cigarettes just weeks ago.
The sweep has had the unintended effect of underscoring just how vital the illegal immigrants were to the local economy.

IMHO, Slater is a TOTAL IDIOT/MORON. Slater apparently doesn't know the difference btwn "yanking" up trespassing NON-CITIZENS (what happened in Stillmore) & "yanking" up LEGITIMATE CITIZENS/PERSONS for EXTERMINATION. What a moronic statement (which I've heard other morons make before). I think the fact that the mayor's son owns a store called "B&S convenience store" is "convenient" b/c they make BS statements. And of course, Keith Slater would keep up a photo of RR the man responsible for the 1986 BS & disastrous amnesty. As far as I'm concerned, that amnesty program is enough for me to say that RR's terms were terrible for we are STILL paying the price for his amnesty. The rate of illegal alien invading trespassers into the USA skyrocketed as a result of that amnesty. I know I'm going to upset those that think RR was God like but I can't help that.
Also, IMHO, unless the 15 yr-old son of Antonio Lopez was born here he along w/ his father should have been kept in custody. If the son WAS born here, the father STILL should have been kept in custody & the son turned over to DCF (or the GA equivalent).
Ms. Bell proves that it's not "jobs Americans WON'T do" but pay that Americans won't take. BTW, if Ms. Bell feels so bad about the raids, I suggest she go back & work for W-M & let somebody else more deserving have that better paying job.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Federal agents swept through Pennsylvania and Delaware over the past five days and arrested more than 115 illegal immigrants from 29 countries. Arrests were made in a number of Pennsylvania cities, including Allentown and Reading.
Authorities say it's part of a nationwide crackdown on those living here in defiance of the law. At least a dozen had criminal convictions some for weapons and sex offenses while others had overstayed visas or had no documentation at all. Federal officials say that, in all cases, the immigrants had broken the law by not obeying deportation orders issued by U-S judges. Some will be deported immediately.

American workers DESERVE to earn $7/hour.
Inflation is being driven by our "friends" in Iran and Venezuela charging us $60/barrel for oil.
Open the ANWR and the Florida coastline to drilling and inflation will take care of itself, AND Georgia poultry workers can earn $7/hour.

My comment was directed at the fact that the author of the article insinuated that no illegals live anywhere other than trailer parks, and that no trailer parks had any other residents in them other than illegals.
It is poor writing, and I found it funny. But you keep that chip on yer shoulder. I don't mind.
